September 29, 201510 yr We are putting down Shera Board Floor Planks on a steal frame and want to use epoxy glue for the job. Shera Bond is a EPOXY Fibre Cement Glue abnd costs 700-800 Baht per two 1 kg tubs... mixed to make the glue. I've seen other EPOXY around like Draga EPOXY for 300 Baht for the same volume. My questions is are we paying for the Shera brand name on the packaging, and are all Epoxy glues the same? The package Draga says it's suitable for bonding steal and cement, but is it the same or similar enough to use for a job of this type? I've been to 3-4 hardware shops and cannot find the Shera Bond in the shops, they don't stock it. Is this just because it's two pricey and there are other products on the market that do the same job for less which is what Thai builders would use? I know little about EPOXY glues, as this post demonstrates. Paul
September 30, 201510 yr Sounds great if you can get it. From my experience with shera deck planks a few things to consider. Thosr planks in direct sun get hotter than sand on a beach so you need to consider expansion ......expansion means differential movement between the plank and the substrate in this case your steel deck. Will the epoxy be able to accomodate the movement.? I dont know. To be safe drill and screw and just fill the screwhead after. Second is your steel joist spcings. Many people think 600mm for the 15mm plank is ok. IT IS NOT After three months of traffic they will crack thats a given. Mine are 22/25thick planks and 400c/c is what you need. Can risk it at 450c/c but no more. For the 15mm planks really 400 max spacing or you will regret it. Good luck
