Retiring Police Chief to support construction of entertainment complex after retirement

BANGKOK, 30 September 2015 (NNT)- Former Police Chief Somyos Poompanmuag has said he will continue to push for the establishment of an entertainment complex in Thailand even after his retirement.

After paying respect to the shrine at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters, the outgoing police chief said he wanted the entertainment complex to be built in Thailand legally.

According to him, he will launch a website to survey public opinions on the issue tomorrow. Police General Somyos said the move was well-intentioned and was not meant to put anyone in trouble. He has also insisted that his idea of the entertainment complex is not to pave the way for him to enter politics.

What can you say about the most powerful Policeman in a country where gambling is illegal pushing for a casino to be built, no problem at all laws are only there for the little people and the great leaders wars on corruption just appear to be more flatulence, not that I am in any way suprised by either.....

If Somyot gets his entertainment complex, he should have no problem with "police protection". He just made two down payments of 3 million baht each.

He doesn't want to have to travel to Cambodia to gamble away ill-gotten gains, when he can invite all his government office-holder friends over to his house for a nice game of cards. And, if it's his house, he can be sure the deck will be stacked in his favor. And, if they run out of money, I'm sure he'll have an on-site loan shark. Somyot didn't even wait until he left office to make his organized crime intentions clear.

All his comments in the above article read as meta speak, as I will do as I wish, I will get what I want, I will enter politics and continue my life as a professional extortionist.

Why use the word 'Entertainment'?

If it is well-intended, first call it by the correct name - Centre of Prostitution and Gambling!

Why is it I would suspect that any games offered to punters may be rigged to give the house more of a advantage,

Talk about playing cards with the devil. I do not see much chance of this man attaining a better /higher status in his next life nor many others involved in the BIB. A position lower than whale dodo may be more fitting.

I think Somyot's name will be in the news regularly after he retires and we shouldn't be surprised at the many and varied reasons why.

So the soon to be ex chief of police has signaled to start his new career by running illegal businesses. It is no wonder the police are so corrupt, it all starts at the top and is rotten too the core.

He has also insisted that his idea of the entertainment complex is not to pave the way for him to enter politics.

So, not like Chuwit?

Do you honestly think the average casino gives you a fair chance to win? A fool and his money are soon parted, which is why I will never gamble. It's for stupid people or the mega rich who can afford to lose.

As they say: You couldn't invent this stuff. I just sit here & find myself shaking my head.

He was, he is, and he will be bad news for thailand.

"the outgoing police chief said he wanted the entertainment complex to be built in Thailand legally."

Legally? Is he going into uncharted waters or what? Makes sense he wants an entertainment complex. He and his pals have given us plenty of entertainment with their absurd press conferences, rewards ceremonies....

"...he will continue to push for the establishment of an entertainment complex in Thailand even after his retirement."

Should read "... especially after his retirement. "

Will his ex work mates be calling round every week for their tea money? Oh, I forgot. He can pay it by Internet Banking.coffee1.gif

I was going to say the actual title should probably involve the phrase "supporting retirement".....

Are we to assume "entertainment" means gambling and prostitution? Perfectly sound for an ex-police chief.

The "SOMYOS" entertainment centre.Sounds good to me------we will never forget him

He is tired of travelling to Cambodia all the time to "play"

Somyos will be welcome and Somyos will not.

This 'character' has already given an Oscar-winning performance in the final acts of his starring role as top tomato.

In this role, he has amused, amazed, and entertained us, he has made us laugh, brought us to tears, and caused us to shake our heads in disbelief.

So, just when we thought, "Is there nothing he cannot do?", he comes out and says, “he wants an entertainment complex to be built in Thailand - Legally”. What a class act!

Although NNT reports that he, “insisted that his idea of the entertainment complex is not to pave the way for him to enter politics”, we can hope this is just the usual NNT fluffy propaganda with no substance to it!

Although he says No, I’m sure he won’t stay out of the limelight for too long, and I’m confident that his greatest role is be still ahead of him – just like Reagan or Schwarzenegger, he hasn’t said he will or he won’t – Like the true performer, he’s just keeping us entertained and in suspense.

We’ll just have to wait for his big performance in 2017, because this guy (like Big Arnie) is definitely going to be back.

It’s going to be interesting to see which colour he chooses for his costume.

I'm just surprised by the sheer size of some peoples greed. When is enough enough? 1 billion baht? 5 billion? 20? When do people wake up and think; Ok, I've been robbing, scamming and shapeshifting for many years and got away with 100's of millions of Baht 'untouched'. I'd do a bloody runner with the winnings, never to be seen again. Not these guys. They go on and on and on until they are assassinated one day outside a Shark fin restaurant. I just don't get it

Its a game to those type of people....a way of life.

The question one should ask is...why do those type of people get followers/supporters and why hardly anybody dares to speak out ?

I suppose its one way of getting rid of your ill-gotten gains no more self award schemes now I wonder what you are going to do next somyos I think you are just another villain on the make .

Sure, I know it's a way of life but it's driven by greed. Wanting more wealth, more power.

They get followers because they pay them and promise them higher positions and nobody speaks out because of fear. These guys can get you killed, tortured, locked away, break your life, etc.

I found this to be a good explanation about this matter:

Good book, I read some years ago. There were plans to make a film. Thank God they didn't, they'd probably have turned it into another 'Die Hard' sequel biggrin.png

Thats great news :)

Really nice but the best part is that his GOING :)

I must say when the PM took power I thought he had balls although letting this slime stay in office and furthermore letting his crony take over has answered my questions..

The great changes that never happened
