UK Playstation on Thai TV

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am only slightly tech savvy but I'm sure one of you will know the answer to this.

I have a UK Playstation with numerous UK games. I am thinking of bringing it over to Thailand for my boy to play with, but I'm not sure if it will work on a Thai TV. I know there's something about regional compatibility but I think that might be just about the games themselves. We don't have Internet at the house so would be just playing the games on the console.

Which Playstation model are you asking about ?

PS1, PS2, PS3 or PS4 ?

PS1s and PS2s only support SD output and use AV sockets ( yellow, red and white ).

You should have no problems playing games on a Thai TV. The only problem I had was some UK games played in black and white.

PS1 and PS2 games are region coded but original games are hard to find in LOS.

PS3s and PS4s support HD and use HDMi sockets ( a PS3 also has AV outputs ).

Again you should have no problems playing games on a Thai TV.

PS3 and PS4 games have no region coding.

I'm not too sure about playing DVDs on a PS3 or PS4. I think the region coding restricts some DVDs.

It's a PS3 so look all good. Comes with plenty of games already so should keep the boy amused for at least 10 minutes!

Thanks for the reply.
