Smoke in Bangkok/South

Featured Replies

In the South there is smoke coming from Indonesia.

I just went out here in Bangkok and there is a relative light smoke everywhere. Is it already coming to Bangkok....Bangkok is so far away that I really can't believe that, or is some local id.... burning the rubbish (happens often in our area but just ash falling and smell never such visible smoke without burned plastic bag smell)?

Here in Phuket two days ago we had the heaviest smoke pollution I have ever seen in my 13 years here. Decreased yesterday due to heavy rains but seems to be building up again today. Could it drift all the way up to BKK? Maybe.

that is bad.....it was only light in Bangkok....

Here is a useful website and it is also available as an App for both iOS & Android:

http://air4thai.pcd.go.th/web/index.php

Or forecast your own by first going to the Global Forest Watch map found on this webpage:

http://www.citylab.com/weather/2015/09/mapping-indonesias-man-made-forest-fires-in-real-time/407410/

And then find the wind forecast here (both real-time and animated play):

https://www.windyty.com/

And then you can impress all your drinking buddies by sounding just like the guy on the evening news ;-)

Cheers
