Crowns In Bangkok

I personally used a cosmetic dental clinic in Bangkok www.dentalthailand.com as they use dental specialist. They perform great work and my teeth show it. They are a higher priced dental clinic as they use doctors and skilled cosmetic technicians, but for me it was worth it. You can find cheaper dental clinics that use only general dentist, but I can not say about the quality of work. Dental work is very inexspensive and well worth the quality of work and high class service. They also offer a spa and help with making travel bookings with their partners.

Best to just talk with Bangkok Smile and see how it goes from there. I been to the country side of Thailand, and would only have generally cleanings done there. Bangkok Smile has had inspections from the British and US Embassy to ensure they were within internationally mandated guidelines.

Best of Luck!

Repoulin has in a previous post admitted that "I work at Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic . . . ."

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...c=68371&hl=

From the Forum Rules:

" . . . nor is it permitted to steer, promote or solicit persons to go to locations or businesses in which it is necessary to pay for services or assistance."

As to the OP's question, you don't know what the dentist will find till he starts drilling -- perhaps you'll need a root canal or a cast post, or perhaps the lab work comes back with a problem -- and some dentists may for those reasons be reluctant to start treatment if you're only in Bangkok for a few days.

In any event, for quicker turnaround on crowns, look for a good clinic that has its own lab on site, like the Dental Hospital, Thantakit or Dental Design.

yes , repoulin the snake oil salesman often self publicises on here.

perhaps he should limit his activities to selling coach tickets from his travel agency.

publicising a travel agency is one thing , but making recommendations about professional services that you have a financial interest in and probably have little scientific knowledge about is misleading to those who are genuinely seeking advice.

perhaps he would also like to elucidate on how a dentist differs from a dental specialist , e.g.what are the differences in their qualifications from accredited dental schools , and how does a cosmetic technician differ from a dental technician , and whilst he's at it ...... why would a doctor be any better than a dentist at dental work. (the courtesy title dr., given to many dentists is merely that , it does not imply that that person has better skills.)

If I had as much time to dedicate to the internet, I still don't think I would spend my time being such a hater. I do not have a problem "admitting" that I worked there, but unfortunately you didn't research me enough otherwise you would realize that my internship is over there and terms at university started back up in August. I wasn't even paid to work there, but instead was apart of a training course at the same university that they teach at. That all seems irrelevant, since the reader has a finial say on where they go. He asked about crowns and not my background, but I would be happy to share with him. I have spent 3 years on studying the health care, hospitals, and clinics in Thailand. I even had many opportunities to be present during surgeries and visit different fields of hospitals first hand with the doctors, so as much as you would like to be right about me – your not. I think I am the perfect source of information regarding this and my information is not misleading.

I still keep in contact with the doctors that work there and along with the other hospitals and clinics in Thailand. I know about health care in Thailand, so I post about that. You do not need to pay to go to Bangkok Smile Dental clinic. In fact, they give out free consultations and ask for nothing in return. So well within the rules but you do have an impressive skill or reciting the rules. You obviously know about the rules of this forum and I tip my hat to you. Years of hall wall monitoring must have paid off and made you very popular. I don't get what your two deal is, but why don't you chill out a little bit. Living in Thailand you would think that some of the jai yin yin culture would rub off, but growing old I guess patience and friendliness fade away as well. I didn't benefit finically, but instead gave out advice and recommended a dental clinic that I know very well.

I know the doctors at the Dental Hospital as well. They offer a very nice building, but the cost of dentistry is much higher there. I imagine to help cover the cost of rent of such an impressive clinic. In addition, they are limited to the systems of prosthesis they offer. They however also use dental specialist. A dental specialist is much different then a dentist. A dentist will have gone to dental school and have a general overview of each procedure. A dental specialist would also have also specialized in a certain field of dentistry with a Master Degree from a higher standard institution called a university. The Bangkok Smile similar to how a hospital is. A doctor that specialized in Dental Veneers, does Veneers all day - all long. If you had something wrong with your knee, you would most likely go see a knee specialist and not a general family doctor. Also, they went to school for 8 years and even still teach at the prestigious universities in Thailand (like where I go to school). This concept works out well for cosmetic dentistry (yes there is a difference between dentistry and cosmetic dentistry) since working with veneers or crowns all day, they have a keen eye for developing the prosthesis and have a long list of experience on working all different kinds mouths and different circumstances. Look at this list of dental specialist and compare them to the dentist listed at the bottom or the dentist you visit. You will see right away that the experience and credentials differ greatly between the two. http://www.dentalthailand.com/list-dentist.htm (the dentist listed at the bottom probably still hold a higher standard over the average dentist in Thailand). I would not expect you to know the difference between a dentist and a dental specialist or even know that the two are very different – but unfortunately a dentist is not a doctor.

To help decrease cost, that patients so badly desires, some dental clinics use dentist who are training and have limited experience to help kill two birds with one stone – deliver a low cost dental fee and train an employee. The quality of work will not be as good and you will not save that much by visiting them. The key is balancing cost with the skill of the dentist. Dental prices are so cheap here, why wouldn’t you use a higher standard dental clinic and dental specialist.

I appreciate your concern for keeping these cyber streets clean and glad you volunteer your time to do it. It is a very noble job indeed, but no need to be rude. He was asking about crowns!? The world will still turn, and the forum will still uphold the sacred text of the forum rule book thanks to people like you. Just try and relax a little bit and get out more often cause you guys are freaking out and being rude for no reason.

all dental schools are part of a university , as are all medical schools.

all dentists are university qualified. some study further , as you say , usually attached to a teaching dental hospital associated with a university.

I would not expect you to know the difference between a dentist and a dental specialist or even know that the two are very different – but unfortunately a dentist is not a doctor.

please dont make assumptions about what you think i know and dont know about dentistry.

but i guarantee it's more than you know.

a dentist is a dentist , and a doctor is a doctor , why should a dentist be a doctor.

dentists are given the meaningless courtesy title of doctor in many countries , but it doesnt make them any more capable of removing an appendix than a medical doctor is of removing a wisdom tooth.

and i dont think it is right for you to promote dental or medical clinics if you have some business connection with them.

What a load of cr@p. A dentist in the US has the title "DDS" - Doctor of Dental Surgery" - not a meaningless title at all. Since you beleive all doctors are the same, perhaps you'd like to receive a heart transplant from a proctologist. At least he could remove your uninformed head from your butt.

Since you beleive all doctors are the same

i never said all doctors are the same .

in the uk the degree is "bachelor of dental surgery" for a person with a dental qualification and "bachelor of medicine" or "bachelor of surgery" or both ,for a person with a medical qualification.

both are entitled to call themselves by the title of doctor.
