December 3, 201510 yr Hello all and thanks for accepting me to the forum! Me and my girlfriend are coming from the UK and Ukraine to Thailand from March until June to see if its somewhere we can settle and buy. We will be staying for 3 months and my questions is about the visa situation in Thailand right now. Would this visa be ok for us both if we get it in advance and then apply for an extra 30 days extension whilst in Thailand? Tourist (3 months validity/Up to 60 days/Single) Would we still need to make a border run? (I heard something has changed with them?) And finally what are the chances of us both being accepted for this extra 30 days once in Thailand, obviously will have outbound tickets and proof of our money... Thanks in advance Gary and Anastasiia
December 3, 201510 yr You should both get single entry tourist visas that will allow a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht. No need for a border run. No problem to get the 30 day extensions. Tickets will not need to be shown. Where do you plan on applying for the visas?
December 3, 201510 yr A single entry tourist visa (obtained in advance of travel) will provide an initial 60 day stay which is easily extendable by another 30 days at any immigration office for a fee of 1900 Bht. No border run is required
December 3, 201510 yr Author Thanks guys, thats the confirmation I was after. We were planning on both applying in the UK (as we are both here right now with her UK visa) but im not sure how that works for a Ukrainian applying at the same place in London as me. Any advice? If not I will apply from here via post, she will apply in Kiev when we go there in february but I really hope we can do it here in the UK. Regards, Gary
December 3, 201510 yr She should not have a problem applying for a visa at the embassy in London. Ukraine is not not on their list of countries that have to follow special procedures. You can find info here on the embassy website. http://thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/4 But ignore this on their tourist visa page. It is not correct. Those that get visas on arrival get 60 days on entry also. "Nationals of countries which are on Thailand’s Tourist Visa Exemption list or have bilateral agreements on visa exemption with Thailand will be permitted to stay for a period of not exceeding 60 days. Nationals from other countries who hold a tourist visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 30 days."
December 3, 201510 yr Author Ok great, we will both apply via post in the UK then for Tourist (3 months validity/Up to 60 days/Single). Fingers crossed that all goes to plan! Thanks for the help, its really appreciated.
December 3, 201510 yr Author One more question guys, does my Ukrainian girlfriend need to include her tickets when she applies for the Visa here in the UK? According to her websites and when she is applying in Kiev its a must, but here in the UK it mentions nothing like that. Thanks
December 3, 201510 yr Each embassy or consulate has its own rules. The embassy in London does not ask for tickets so that is their rule.
December 4, 201510 yr She has to be a resident of the UK to apply for the multiple entry tourist visa. See: http://www.thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/574
