One day this idiot will learn to think before he speaks but it won't be in the lifetime of most of us.

Does he discuss his speeches with any of his staff before hand but would anyone have the courage to ' suggest ' something isn't suitable far less actually criticise. ?

Let's see. If this does happen you can bet that 65% of the population will put down as their occupation "FARMER". and monthly salary as "ZERO". which would be true. Government employees would put down the lowest salary that is possible. So this means that all that information would be wrong anyway.

The idea's purpose is not so bad but needs to be kept more private by setting up segments going along with yr income. For example, segments A,B,C,D starting from top income going down. No numbers displayed.

BANGKOK: -- Junta chief Prayuth Chan-ocha has come up with the bright idea of displaying monthly salary and occupation on citizens’ ID cards.

To prepare the nation for the upcoming ASEAN economy, PM Prayuth said during his televised address on Saturday morning that national ID cards should provide this information so the government can update labor statistics of the country.

"Our problem is how we organize the information. In 2017, we should succeed at having ID cards that show the cardholder's profession and salary," Prayuth said in his “Returning Happiness to the People” show, which was moved from Friday night to Saturday morning last week.

And what would my three regular bar girls put down as occupation? And income? Variable, depending whether his pension arrives on time....

Very scary stuff. Why not also add restrictions on movement while your at it.

Control of the movement of money worldwide is an orchestrated idea by all the countries in the world. Thailand is just late showing up at the table. Actually they want to rid the world of that filthy paper (which is all it is in reality) and put it in digital form. It gives them more control and costs less. If you do not behave they just press a button and your wealth goes up in a puff of smoke well not exactly its "transferred" into government coffers. I just love watching those movies where crooks (governments come to mind) when they push a button and you watch hundreds of million dollars disappear. Could digital currency ever get stuck in cyber space?

PM is not in touch with the people..if he was he would not have suggested this ridiculous idea.

He still retains a lot of his "green" thinking left over from his military days. You know the thinking. You give orders to move a pile of dirt from one location to another and after it is done you order it moved back to its original location. Time study or studying time take your pick.

Incomes?

What next. Bar codes on the back of ones neck? Outrageous. I guess it would be easier this way on how much to shake someone down for.

Would this "bar" code keep track of the bars you frequent?

'But government spokesman Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd defended the idea saying it would help the government aids to reach exactly the target groups.' Uh, huh. And presumably army generals and politicians' incomes would be included - all income?

Anyway, let's be honest, any attempt to tax the huge 'grey' economy would draw 'huge public outcry'. The Thais believe we farang pick our respective countries' welfare/pensions from bloody trees.

so very true. in fact i gave up explaining it to them. even the "educated" ones don't get it unless they have lived abroad and ran a business. most thais simply don't understand complex things. their brain goes slam-tilt.

I understand the PM's frustration about the level of tax evasion here. I have often thought that people of working age should be filing tax returns in order to vote. (Even if their income level does not require a tax payment).

Not far away and we need to put yellow stars on our tshirts.

Why? Why the color Yellow? Why not Red, Green, Gold (favourite color of Thai Females) or any other colour of the spectrum? Please explain the reasoning for your post. crazy.gif

This is one of two articles that made me laugh out loud today. This one, wanting to tax subsistenve farmers, was a real chuckle. The other was "PM asks Rohinya investigation chief to return home to expose truth about threats" That one was hilarious because the PM promised him protection but no one has been moved to an inactive post for trying to transfer the guy to the region he reported on, which is obviously a certain death sentence. Maybe the headline should have been "Please come home so you can die in custody."

This is all becoming funny, but few are laughing.
