PHUKET -- Roads throughout the heart of Phuket Town will close tomorrow morning (Dec 19) as the annual Christmas parade takes place, from 10amto 11am.

Phuket City Traffic Police Chief Lt Col Teerawat Liemsuwan urged mototrists not wanting to become entangled in any traffic delays to avoid the area.

“The Phuket Christmas Festival 2015 will include several decorated floats and many cars and pickup trucks, as well as at least 200 people taking part in the parade,” he said.

sad.png Although Buddhism and Hinduism do not have rules against blasphemy of religion I hope those behind this procession has such knowledge about Christianity that they know that the celebration of Christmas is about something entirely different than to use it as a excuse to fill Phuket city streets with people and merchants pockets.

This is described as an annual event. I've never heard of it before. Is this the first year of this annual event or have I just missed this exciting event in the past?

I too haver never heard of or seen this parade but took this report as a warning and headed out early and the when I returned around midday meet a pickup with girls dressed as angels.

Some real ignorance on display here. Bear in mind that Phuket town has heavy historical Portuguese links so celebrating Christmas isn't such a wild anomaly.

Even if I know that there are near to 300000 Catholics in Thailand I dont feel I'm ignorant when I personally believe that the missionaries behind this parade have a God not described in any bible.
