Or, if you are unable to travel twice to BKK, a visit to Assist Thai Visa and a payment of 5,000 baht gets it done the easy way. A utility bill with your name on it in English takes care of the immigration letter hassle, or so I've been informed.

Nope, Bangkok, just another benefit the Brits enjoy. Fully expecting the Brit Embassy in Bangkok to take a leaf out of Chiangmai's book and set up their own agency to "help" their citizens.
