The girlfriend and I plan to visit England in June, just wondering when we should apply for the visa? My friend said you should apply no earlier than 3 months before, is this about right?

Yep, sure it says 3 months somewhere, I even think that when you start to make an application it wont let you if the intended date of travel is over 3 months away (or I might have dreamed that part).

Yes you can only apply from three months before the intended date of travel.

Remember that the visa starts from the day of issue, unless you ask for it to be post dated.

Just as an aside (but related to visa application timing), a friend submitted her visa application at 9.45 am last Friday - standard appointment, no express service.

8.00 am this morning, email received to say that a decision has been made.

Is that quick, or what.
