The Ford seller arranged the insurance of my EVT+ ... (with group Discount and another 15% discount (no idea why) it came to just over 30Kthb inc the compulsory bit with a reputable insurance company (only 1.3Mthb cover for the car though). Having read something about discount for paying the first xthousand thb of a claim I got my wife to enquire about that with the insurance company and also about just having two named drivers.

Nothing came of paying an excess but they have given me approx. 5300thb back for just my wife and I driving. ... they have said that if anyone else drives the car and damages it then I have to pay the first 6000thb in the event of the claim. On the face of it this seems a remarkable deal as no one else will drive it, especially step-daughter!biggrin.png

I had a little concern if the car is stolen and damaged but the worst case will be the 6000thb excess.

ALSO I got the car end of Nov and when the insurance paperwork finally came through to us it was dated mid Jan. The seller told me that my name was written the wrong way around on the initial paperwork so they had to re-issue. My wife contacted the Insurance company to confirm and they said the same thing. So my renewal date to my surprise is now mid Jan 2017. It appears that I win 6 weeks.

I might enquire about getting more than approx. 80% cover ie more than the 1.3Mthb.

So it may pay some of you to have a named driver policy.

The named drivers, but that still covers un-named drivers with a deductible sounds like a good policy mix... Best of both worlds..

As for getting > 80% cover, some insurance companies will do this for an added premium.. others you might have to tell them you've fitted aftermarket wheels, stereo upgrades etc to get them to move the number up.

Even if you haven't :P
