I can never understand how looks are so important here that it's the main reason why most don't bother with helmets. TIT indeed.....

Police go home at 5pm. Evenings is when the young of both sexes go out looking for love. Riding a motorcycle around town is the Thai equivalent of the Spanish paseo.

So the reason they don't wear helmets is not rocket science.

If they wear a helmet no one can see how pretty/handsome or desirable they are. It's like cruising around in California with the top down!

Boys on scooter see attractive young girls on scooter they follow them on their scooter, et al.

It is just Thailand, where there are many different things to see/enjoy or participate in.

At night BKK totally changes, the crappy taxi's come out, idiot motocy racers start racing, restaurants on the pavements, motocy's without any light on the backroads, people park on the roads....Kiddy's driving daddy's car in the moobaan, soidogs all get active....decent people stay at home or in their car.

There is no police so they can all do as they like.

Re Super bikes or Touring bikes on toll roads. This is a good point and understandable, though how can you ensure the rider has the experience to safely be there?

If the rider isn't experienced, then that's his fault. If he falls or crashes into a car, he's the only one getting injured or killed. The cc restriction is only there to reduce the number of motorcycles, not because big bikes are safer riders.

Yep. Isn't it great? Real life.

This law isn't about safety or experience . It is party class based and partly to keep the lying on the seat racers off the system.
