Are there Baht Busses in Vientienne and Motorbike Taxis

Featured Replies

Does Vientienne have baht busses running all over the place like Pattaya in Thailand does?

They have what tourists and locals call Tuk Tuk but in Thailand it is called a Sam Law or Lor (my spelling) depending on how lazy the Thai persons tongue is telling you the name, In Muhkdahan they are called Sky Laps or Labs ?....

They are three wheeled motor bikes with two rows of bench seats like a baht bus in the back but only comfortable if you are under 4 foot 6 tall.

The bicycle rickshaw as we westerners call them are also Sam Law/r. Before that the man running pulling 2 people Rickshaw in Thai is a Gwee Ann.

Most Vientiane tuk tuk stands have a board on a wall nearby stating prices for destinations throughout the town. Based on 10 baht in Pattaya they are a lot more expensive but still cheaper than a taxi.

When I go to Vientiane i take the bus at the border to the central bus station (or you can stop where desired) for 6000 kip.

The local Tuk Tuk prices are around 30,000 -40,000 kip for around town but you will have to negotiate for those prices.

Motorbike taxis are everywhere, they have orange vests/bibs and are cheap, tuk tuks are slightly more expensive, prepare to barter the price, whatever they ask for divide by 2.
