DPM Prajin reaffirms plan to establish Thailand as aviation hub in ASEAN

BANGKOK, 26 February 2016, (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister ACM Prajin Juntong has reaffirmed the plan to establish Thailand as an aviation hub in ASEAN.

The Deputy Premier made the comment during the daily television program Thailand Moves Forward, saying the Kingdom's favorable geography and abundance of tourist attractions support this plan. He expressed confidence that Thailand's aviation business would grow steadily in the future.

He also mentioned the Royal Thai Air Force Museum, saying the establishment is the best place to learn about history and development of aviation in Thailand. The Deputy Premier said schools can use the museum to conduct extracurricular activities as part of the government's policy to cut class hours and increase educational projects.

ACM Prajin said the government plans to upgrade the Royal Thai Air Force Museum to become a world-class institution by cooperating with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology in showcasing the latest technology.

Serious question marks over airline and airport safety standards but don't let any such minor matters stand in the way of a grandiose claim.

The only hub Los can lay claim to is being the hub of fantasy.

Sadly another deluded member of the current rulers. I'm afraid they have along way to go before they can aspire to this pipe dream. They are in a good place as far as location goes but sadly along way from being the leading light as there recent transgressions and taken to task over standards would indicate. No Mr Deputy Prime minister I would suggest you go and put your house in order before worrying about any sort of hub status !!

Wow! Aviation hub huh! They can even get a green card for their airlines or airports. How many hubs are they going to keep laying claim to? Aviation, ,IT, cures and vaccines, medicine and doctors and hospitals, happy people! Buddha only knows what will be claimed next

beyond laughable by now. Singapore is equally well positioned but with organisational skills and aviationr standards that Thailand can only dream about.

Before starting to promote the country as an aviation-hub, the government would need to carry-out all of the long-delayed expansion of capacity at Suvarnabhumi, and actually see it completed. wink.png

It would also be helpful to put the DCA's house in order, and resolve the causes of the ICAO red-flag & IATA warnings. whistling.gif

Maybe the better priority is for the Thai educational system to become a world-class institution.

Oddly enough, they've not claimed the Hub they're closest to achieving. Hub of cheap whores and men dressed like women

Partly they have ,in 1969 one of my friends said that he read in Playboy magazine that Playboy had a gay guide booklet that listed The Suriwongse Hotel on Suriwongse street as the place to stay for gays.

A Category 2 International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) rating means that the country either lacks laws or regulations necessary to oversee air carriers in accordance with minimum international standards, or its civil aviation authority a body equivalent to the FAA for aviation safety matters is deficient in one or more areas....

FYI DPM

They'll never be a hub of anything good in any of our lifetimes. The fact the world tells them they are bad at something and the following week they claim they'll be a hub of it shows not only how vain and out of touch they are, it also shows their disdain for others.

The best that can happen is that their airlines all go bankrupt, the tourists leave and their dirty fishing industry loses its markets. Nothing short of that can save them from themselves.

Sadly these people are ruling the country.

What's sad about rulers wanting to improve their country?

These "elite" rulers do NOT want to improve the country. On the contrary, it has been abundantly clear to any astute observer of Thailand that over these decades (and longer), these rulers, despite their constant rally cries of sappy nationalism, are interested only in preserving the Thai Caste and their positions in it.

What people have we heard of who even appear to be selfless and truly sacrifice for the good of the general population? You NEVER hear of Thais doing this. They give crumbs and take big spoils. These fake Patriots love Thailand little more than a randomly chosen tourist. Otherwise, how could the country after so many decades still be where it is today?

Well, you obviously don't live in Thailand, good for you, you managed to escape, it's terrible here, expats queuing up at the airport to leave only to be turned back by armed soldiers, forced to stay here against their will.

How did we jump from improvements in aviation to this?
