CityNews – A man from Khon Kaen was arrested yesterday for snatching an American tourist’s purse in Chiang Mai after a good citizen chased after the thief.

The purse had a iPhone 6, 7,500 baht in cash, ID and credit cards and the victim’s passport.

The victim had her purse snatched while she was heading back to her hotel.

For those who do not read the link the victim and the thief were in the same hotel and they know each other blink.png

Umm....

The victim, Miss Elizabeth Danelle Wilson, had her purse snatched while she was heading back to her hotel.

The victim, 31, and a United States citizen who wishes to remain anonymous,

...the headline suggests the bag-snatcher is a tourist.....

The victim called CityNews and claims that it is now a matter of domestic dispute.

The negative headline of a bag snatcher robbing an American tourist in CM......but they are "friends" staying at the same hotel and the tourist has changed the story from robbery to a domestic dispute?

Headline should read.......Flakey Farang And Her Bogus Robbery. File it under "Farang Robberies for Insurance Purposes". There is enough genuine crime in Thailand but there is a trend where some of the stuff is just made up. The backpacker guy missing in Koh Tao, held against his will. He causes a massive social media storm but he made it up and is looking for a job at a dive shop and loving it on Koh Tao!?! Another Brit backpacker "missing in Thailand" "people are trying to hurt her". This goes all over the world but the real story is she has mental issues and found blowing a whistle at the airport! Every other backpacker will share with the world that they have dengue fever. Why do farang backpackers with double barrelled names get dengue fever more than any other demographic?
