  • My mate just sussed this out ..... 20260 goes to the post office on Soi Post office .... but they have no postmen there to do deliveries

I've since changed all my mails to 20150 now.

Walking past the post box on Beach road between Royal Garden and Soi Post Office

20150 is painted on the box there now so looks like 20260 is depreciated and maybe kept for PO boxes in the Post Office itself only since all of the deliveries comes from Naklua post office these days.

I don't know why Thailand uses postcodes. If 20150 covers the whole of the Pattaya area just write Pattaya. I thought the idea of a postcode was to narrow it down to a small area.

Pattaya is a very small area, and number is more machine readable, usually there's a box on the envelope where you're supposed to put in the number for postcode

20150 don't just cover Pattaya but the whole of Naklua, Bang Lamung as well

Denser area like Bangkok gets smaller area of postcode.

Of course it's nowhere as small as the UK's one where there's only 1 house number that won't duplicate within the post code, whereas in Thailand, if you leave out the road, soi and moo number, there could be potentially many duplicate of the same house number within a postcode area
