Here's one for the w/end!

What do you actually like about Thailand?

What do you dislike?

Is it important?

I like the climate,

I like I can do pretty much what I want wherever at any hour of the day.

I like the considerateness with which I am generally treated.

I like the convenience of banks which are far more flexible than abroad.

I dislike the Thai obsession with food.

I dislike that smile that says:Please don't ask me

I dislike all drivers!

I hate the weather. I like the freedom. I dislike the traffic and craziness related to it but like that I can drive pretty much however I want with no police bothering me. I like my girlfriend very much and the fact that if something goes south that there are many more to choose from.

I like being able to have sex with an attractive young woman whenever I like.

Which is why I'm here.

In CM,

I also like the warm weather, my wife, children, home, bicycles, the jungle trails, the mountain road to Wat Doi Suthep, and the endless selection of bars and coffee shops.

I'm not keen on the smog, and Thai immigration.

i hate the weather. i hate the sun. i'd like winters with snow and icy roads in my home country. unfortunately these likeable advantages are saddled with a crazy income tax percentage and that makes me rike Thailand too mutt long time.

I hate all the hunsum men who parade down Beach Road with no shirt on and the big old belly just above the speedos?

Pony tails on guys.

Tour bus traffic

Songkran

Meatheads at the local gym

But I do like the fact that my pension check still finds my doorstep at the end of each month and all goes straight into my pocket without some Thai lady touching it first....????

Dislikes:

  • Taxi drivers. There are many good ones but so many bad apples. It has gotten to the point where I avoid taking a taxi whenever possible. Tuk-tuk drivers are even worse.
  • I also dislike the lack of competition when going outside of Bangkok. Example: taxi from Ao Nang to Krabi airport = 600 baht which was almost as much as the air ticket back to Bangkok. Other areas such as Phuket are even worse.
  • Immigration at Chaeng Wattana. There are some mean old battle-axes there.

  • Transportation options in Bangkok
  • Train to Ayutthaya for 15 baht

I like the sex bangin as much as I can and drinkin piss all day.

What!!! surely you mean temples and culture???

oh yeah ! sorry .. i mean the temples and culture .. ! no one come here for sex and piss ! blink.png

Im glad we've cleared that up..................I dont have much affinity towards Thai People or "culture" I certainly dont like temples at all and all the associated "crap" that surrounds them, its is too hot and sticky but I have a great Wife who "keeps me".

I like the scenery and early mornings ( I have no neighbours) I dont like the laziness and dirtiness of many Thais, I like the fact things grow quickly as I like trees, dont like the selfishness do like the junk food dont like Thai food as way too spicy.

I like the fact its still relatively cheap and taxes a stated by Naam are low and no land/house taxes.

I dont like the fact finding any Thai workmen who can actually do the job properly is impossible and dont like having to (but end up) doing everything myself.

I strongly dislike the "hierarchy" but we cant discuss that we can only "love" it.

I like the absolute sense of freedom in Thailand. No nanny state watching every step you take.

From OP "I dislike all drivers!" Do you actually drive here?

I love driving here and feel perfectly safe.

I would have agreed with you but after watching the video of that maniac business man killing 2

young Thais it has changed my mind

hate the weather except 4 weeks in December when the Thais are frozen but I swim almost nude

hate the whole insufferable nonsense about Thai food being the eighth wonder of the world, when most of it is swill, and overpriced

hate the way my Thai friends always ask about my food and use their phones to take photos of their <deleted> meal and send the photo to me

hate the kids and adults who go out in nighties and pyjamas to public food shops on Sunday mornings: dirty habit.

hate the reality that even most serious relationships (not short-time in Cowboy) demand or anticipate some kind of money thing---whether gay or straight. I have ATM tattoed on my head.

hate the rip offs at hospitals when the nurse sees that I have Platinum level insurance

hate the whole education thing where the students are more interested in IPhones and Gucci (and plagiarism+ general idleness) and the Thai teachers are equally idle and change your marks so the kids all pass

hate 95% of taxi drivers who are irritating with their naff music or scamming (I have been here 11 years and I know how to get from Chula to Sukhumvit 22 without going via Rama 9)

hate the taxi drivers who ask me about my Thai wife (I'm gay) in terrible Tinglish and then ask me if I want girl, before trying to discuss Man. United or Chelsea.

hate the "superstar' talent shows where unknown (and KNOWN) vocalists sing way off key like cats with PMT (but nobody ever says anything)

I think the good outweighs the bad, so I will give you IMO, two positives, and one negative.

The Positives. I love the sincerity and honesty of the majority of the Thai people.

I love the fact that we don't have TV licences, council tax, and other taxes to pay like in the UK.

The Negative. I hate the way the Immigration Offices and Banks etc, make up their own rules and end up confusing people.
