90 Day Reporting Is Inflexible!

Featured Replies

I am still convinced this 90 day rule is really just another small annoyance to inconvenience foreigners.

Yeah right.

Take away the cynicism and they may want you to report every 90 days to make sure you are still:

1. Here

2. Alive

Just a thought. :o

1) They get the TM6 when you leave the country

2) I don't think you failing to show up for your 90 days will trigger any searches for your body. A shrug at most.

Well Manfromoz, I hate to sound cynical (don't think I am too much so), but I have lived here for 15 years (the past 11 continuously on a one year extension) and have, until this past 12 months, never reported my whereabouts to my local immigration. Nor were they particularly concerned over the years where I was, nor, frankly, did they seem particularly concerned the other day. My impression was this was just another annoying piece of paper they had to fill out and file. The immigration officers know me well, know exactly where I live and aren't too interested in me reporting to them, only require it because Bangkok requires it.

So the easiest way with the least hassle is to report every 90 days and be done with it? :o

sbk,

What happens now is not necessarily what was intended when the 90 day reporting was introduced.

Like most public servants they just do whatever is least hassle for them to get a paycheque. :o
