Meechai upset for not being allowed to explain to people about the charter draft

BANGKOK: -- Constitution Drafting Committee chairman Meechai Ruchupan is upset with the National Legislative Assembly for disallowing his committee to explain to the people regarding the charter draft before the referendum.

He questioned, if the CDC was not allowed to clarify to the people any doubts about the charter draft, who would do the talking “or the Election Commission to do the job but the commission did not draft the charter”.

Asked whether the NLA’s rejection means that it does not like the draft, Mr Meechai responded: “Then, they (NLA) should draft the charter themselves.”

The CDC chairman said that he would seek an explanation from the government about the NLA negating his committee to do the clarification which, he pointed out, might impact on the referendum.

Mr Meechai said that there is still widespread misunderstanding about the selection of the prime minister as prescribed in the charter draft. He maintained that it is the prerogative of the House of Representatives to select the prime minister.’

However, he said both the Senate and the House will select the prime minister in case certain provisions of the charter are exempted from enforcement.

He is confident that the CDC will be able to make the people understand the issue regarding the selection of the prime minister.

There is no need for them to explain it to anyone if the current gov wants to do it themselves. This way, they can have whatever they want in it and make it sound good to the people of simply leave out what they don't want the people to know. Keep all the people happy like they are now hehee

What is there to explain , for two and half years everyone has watched from the sidelines as the clowns of the circus try to convince everyone that we are here for you , the only transparency is everyone can see right through the charter for what it is , for the amount of detail given so far this should have taken six months, the referendum will decide what out comes will be excepted, however, the Junta must realize that this is also a vote on their popularity.......................................coffee1.gif

What is there to misunderstand?

Furthermore, the Constitutional Court can under the Meechai draft constituition declare at anytime an unresolvable political conflict during the term of an elected PM and unilaterally replace the PM with its own PM for an unspecified term. This provision was designed to save the military from having to perform another coup d'etat.

The draft Charter should be widely publicised, and each and every person in the country with the ability to read, should somehow be persuaded to read the entire

document, and then form their own opinion, rather than relying on the interpretation of others.

It should be printed and distributed to every household in the country, shared widely on social media by way of a downloaded PDF file, distributed at schools

and Government offices.

Lets get it into the hands of the people for whom it is written to control, and then see what the outcome is. No other method will produce long lasting results.

Why bother reading it when it'll be replaced in a few days, weeks, months or years by the next one ????
