I strongly disagree with Inspire Mag calling Songkhran a WATER FIGHT EVENT! here in Pattaya possibly encouraging added extra chaos and dangers upon our City for now about 9 days. The Buddhist Festival itself which in many places other than Pattaya is celebrated for a day or two and can be a quite enjoyable experience. But add a large quantity of alcohol and very drunken and over zealous lot of folks with nothing else to do i believe it truly becomes an unsafe event for many others who would like to just carry on with their daily routines. I myself have been forcibly knocked off my Motosai along with my girlfriend and incurred about a months need of bandage care luckily not all too serious. So fellow Farangs when you are a bit tipsy and feeling like it's a fight take care and remember this is not a FIGHT but a Religious event. Have fun and take care!

What the Inspire description omitted about Pattaya Songkran--the sadistic, lawless, dangerous aspects, the hatred most residents feel for it, is all there. So further discussion along these lines should, I think, properly go in the FAQ thread itself.

I think Songkran , is fantastic, great event , hope all get wet right through.

plenty of Thai guys fighting after a Sangsom sessions, loads of people having accidents on motor bikes.
