Weather in Chiang Rai region

Let's hope it is cool, clear, clean skies and fields of wild sunflowers! ! ! !

I like that thought. Lets all have happy thoughts about the weather and perhaps things won't turnout as bad as we may fear. It can't hurt.

Was reading that there is a weather system spreading down from China. We should have about 5 cooler days of 5 degrees lower temperature. After that any ones guess

Definitely cooler up here, I put an old denim shirt on over my teeshirt when i took the dog out this morning.

Did you put a singlet on your dog to stop the cold...all the well dressed dogs wear one.smile.png ....our dogs are poor they have to wear their own coats.

I love the fog and between a light morning rain and a heavy, noisy rain in the evening, I was able to sneak in a MTB ride yesterday. The cooler temperature really made it much easier and I returned feeling far less fatigued than when it is in the mid-30s.smile.png smile.png Not great conditions for taking pictures though.

This weather is reaching havoc with the local farmers, however. The sticky rice is still standing tall and green, but the regular rice is yellow and drooping heavily under the weight of its bounty. It needs to be harvested soon but there is still too much water in the fields.sad.png

Magnificent day here except for my wife's young nephew coming off a motocy and "breaking many bones".

The family are heading en masse to the hospital as I type.

Sunday...... rolleyes.gif

sceadugenga, a very scary thing to say the least. Hope nothing more serious and that he recovers very soon.

Well, that is Sunday for ya. Must be his unlucky day. Perhaps a little merit making will sort things out.

The injuries may not be as serious as the doomsayers originally reported, a broken collar bone and a fracture somewhere in the arm.

Should be sent home this week.

The wife was actually just as concerned about her elderly mother who has raised the boy most of his life and took the news of the accident very badly.

Thanks all for the good wishes, it's certainly a friendly forum here. smile.png

Be careful brandishing that word “friendly” around these parts. I believe someone may have taken out a patent on it.whistling.gif biggrin.png
I am guessing, like me, you have been around long enough that you don’t lose your head when others are losing theirs in these situations. There is always a family member in dire straits it seems but thing are seldom as bad as first reports suggest. I am guessing he'll be back on the bike in no time.

Absolutely beautiful evening, I love this time of the year.

Just a suspicion of smoke in the air, a warning, no doubt, of things to come.

Yes, I always find it better to offer a few soothing words while quietly going about my business amidst the hysteria.

A word to newcomers to the Thai way of family life... never... ever... suggest that things may not be as bad as they seem.

It will all fall into place without any farang advice or suggestions.

Even if it is worse...then they can have a three day party.

Actually it is something I like here. They just take things as they are and do whatever they need to and get the most of the deal they are dealt....ooops no gambling. '

wonder if there is a cover version of that in Thai.smile.png

As this thread has already been well and truly hijacked may I continue on that theme?

The concept of what I refer to as "Thai time" fascinates me and if I may give an example. Sunday for us whilst we are in Phayao is the day that everyone is available to do whatever it is that we want to do as the family business now closes Sundays. On such times it is usually left to me as to what we are going to do or where we are going to go, mainly because I like to research things and find places that I think the family might like. So yesterday morning I was asked and I suggested Rai Boon Rawd thinking that we would all get ready and go early. I learned long ago that you must just go with the flow with "Thai time" and so it was that it was 1.30PM before everyone was ready and we were in the car, I am thinking that it is a reasonable drive from here but we will still have some time at Rai Boon Rawd, hmmm never assume such thoughts! After we set off I am informed that the MIL wants to visit her favourite wat on the way, on the way is a 30 km detour BTW! So then after our merit making we are back on our way after an hour or so detour and as we approach Wat Rong Khun I am told we need to stop for comfort stop which then metamorphoses into a full meal etc. The sun is still in the sky though, well just, as we arrived at Rai Boon Rawd and had an abbreviated tour due to failing light - well it was still a magic time. Also a lovely meal at the restaurant there.

Thai time. Gotta love it!!

The weather was lovely, some clouds but also some blue sky.
