Thaksin and Anutin Strengthen Bond Over Golf Amid Government Rift Rumours

They were joined by energy moguls Sarath Ratanavadi and Pongrapee Indrajang from leading Thai corporations. Recent tensions have reportedly simmered between the Pheu Thai Party and the Bhumjaithai Party in the coalition government. The discord intensified after Thaksin's remarks at a Pheu Thai seminar on 13th December, criticising coalition partners who failed to attend a significant cabinet meeting concerning a tax decree, labelling them as "saboteurs." Additionally, Pheu Thai has launched a campaign emphasising the importance of unity for constitutional amendments, encouraging voters not to be swayed by "double agents" - a reference to the Bhumjaithai Party's opposing vote on a referendum bill. This occurrence suggested internal disagreements over the coalition’s legislative direction. Three Abandoned Dogs Attack Residents in Suphan Buri; Authorities Capture One Dog

Authorities in Suphan Buri have captured one of three abandoned dogs, reported to be possibly pit bulls, after they attacked residents near a popular tourist spot. The incident occurred on 21 December in U Thong District, near the Khao Phra Reservoir in Suphan Buri Province. Locals reported seeing three dogs abandoned in the area near the U Thong Buddha Carving, a well-known attraction where many people exercise in the evening. Unfortunately, the dogs attacked a passerby, leaving them injured before others intervened to stop the attack. Concerned residents, fearing further incidents, urged authorities to act swiftly. Veterinary officials, led by Mr. Teerapong Jariyarangseeroj, the U Thong District Livestock Officer, coordinated with a team of over 10 personnel from the Provincial Veterinary Office. Using tranquiliser guns, they began an extensive search of the surrounding area, even deploying drones for aerial surveillance. One male dog was tranquillised and captured, but two others remain at large. Near the site of the sightings, officials discovered a makeshift feeding station, including a water container and three bowls of dog food. It is suspected that someone, possibly the original owner, has been secretly returning to feed the animals. Mr. Teerapong explained that the dogs were likely abandoned due to their owner being unable to care for them but still feeling a connection. He urged the owner to come forward and assist authorities in capturing the remaining two dogs, ensuring public safety and proper care for the animals. A local coffee shop owner, Mr. Anothai, shared his account of a recent attack. On 20 December, a resident exercising near the Buddha carving encountered someone feeding the dogs. As the resident jogged past, the dogs attacked, biting their leg and shoulder. Others intervened, preventing a more serious incident. Residents have called on authorities to capture the remaining dogs quickly and have urged pet owners to act responsibly. “If you can no longer care for your pets, contact officials to ensure they are rehomed properly,” said Mr. Anothai. “Abandoning them like this puts everyone at risk.” The search for the two remaining dogs is ongoing. -- 2024-12-23 -
