I have some sympathy with those who cite being unable to buy land here, however do agree with the opposite view in that allowing foreigners to buy land would result in a even more farang ghettos proliferating almost everywhere in Thailand. There are of course ways around it via company route, as in places such as Bulgaria. But it's not just the continual  government 'crackdown on nominees' you must worry about (which rarely, if ever) result in you being turfed out of your home, but the entire bloody population seeking to divest you of your property at every bloody turn. Which endemic Thai corruption allows if not actively encourages.
