Aforek Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Hello, next month I move somewhere else ( countryside, but I know there is 3 BB ) for 5 years now, I am with 3 BB adsl 2 and I would like to have the same , but when I see their site, I understand they don't have Adsl anymore, only VDSL or fiber as I read on Thai visa, I thing fiber is better because I shall be connected to Europe more than Thailand do I need a special router , with wifi ; 3BB router is good ? ( there will be about 5 computers connected for wi fi ) I suppose my ( very good ) D-Link wireless N300 ADSL2 + router ( 802.11b/gn Wireless and Eternet connectivity ) will not work anymore with Fiber ( and VDSL, does it work ?) I am not a real specialist, don't be too much technical, please Thanks
RKASA Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 The have adsl that is all we have and it just got run a month ago - all new cable. 590B for 18.8mbps or more for more up to 50mbps. If your moving form town it is more likely they don't have fiber yet.
muratremix Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Why not ask them to move your line to your new location without cancelling your subscription??
BB24 Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Are you buying or renting? The reason I ask is that I tried for ages to get some sort of map showing where they provided adsl/fibre - calls and emails resulted in nothing. The only solution was to check the place you are staying at before buying/renting and see who has what in the neighbourhood. We rented in a moodban where most people had 3BB Fibre or ADSL. When we next move, my plan is to do the same - and then take a list of possible addresses to the nearest 3BB office and ask if they can provide Fibre (or ADSL) at each location. Their internal system is easy to access and for them to say yes/no to an address - but they will not provide a map/coverage. By the way keep in mind that ADSL speed is very much dependent upon the distance to the nearest exchange/hub - if you are over 2kms away in your new place, you will have a lower service, and at 5kms it will drop off the scale badly. Fibre IMO is the best solution - little bit more but worth it for reliability and speed. Yes - ADSL modem no good for Fibre - but 3BB provide a Fibre modem - a cheapie and an OK one - ask for the n model (specify you want 802.11n - not the 802.11g). PS - 50Mbps on ADSL aint possible - only Fibre or Cable.
muratremix Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 50 AND 100 mbps on VDSL is possible. 3bb also uses vdsl tech over copper phone lines.
