Ah yes tea money. You can massage the "Golden Goose" but be careful that you do not kill it. Again its a high profile PR stunt nothing else. They more than likely picked his name out of a hat and it was his turn. This does nothing for tourism only cast a pall on it. Just another one and done deal for now.

It's understandable for anyone who doesn't live here that they are under the impression Police/Army are somehow in league together. If it wasn't clear enough in the last civil unrest where (someone in the R family) refused to visit any of the injured police in hospital---Just the Army. Then actions in Phuket & other places should have spelt it out for you--after 30 something years of breaking the law. The Army moved in and dismantled billions of baht in Hotels etc that "seem" to have had immunity before.

The Army then burnt down nearly 27 mansions worth millions each--built in National parks around the country---after nearly a year of asking the police to take action.

To put it simply....one may feel that one side leans towards someone who now lives amongst the Arabs but was the Lieutenant Colonel of the police & who's father in law was the General.

I would in the future expect a lot more raids from the Army---or from the Police with the Army Assisting them.......

A friend told me he has come across several Burmese and Lao girls on visits to parlours of this type. However, none give the impression of being trafficked. The stories are al the same. They came to Thailand to to work for low pay and conditions in factories with passports and got legitimate WPs and pink ID cards migrant workers (valid for 10 years). After a year or so working for low pay in a factory, they jumped at the chance of earning a lot more pay in a parlour when someone suggested it. All seemed happy with the pay and conditions in the parlours and had no interest in going back to factory work. The management of the parlours deduct B1,000 from their earnings monthly to pay the bribes to the BiB. So the police, of course, know exactly what is going on, as they are part of the gravy train. There even some girls that can barely speak Thai working in some gogo bars.

The customers know the girls are underage. They want the girls that way. Treat them as they should be treated: Exploiters of the poor and feeble minded.

You assume a great deal. These girls are not "kiddies" and what proof do you have that anyone who went with them knew their age or requested young girls? Maybe they just chose them from the crowd. In addition, I doubt very much that these girls were there under any duress and were there at their own free will, and were not trafficked, the latest catch-phrase for any foreigner encroaching upon the Thai's own sex trade.

If the customers did seek out the girls then okay, string them up. But there is no proof or suggestion that anyone did such a thing.

As far as underage girls concerned it is completely irrelevant whether a client was unaware of the fact in determining any criminality.It is the responsibility of the client to find out asking for ID if necessary.If there is any doubt leave alone.Most Thais understand this and are very very careful.

The Nation report omits a feature noted in the BP, the book recording payments to police officers and other officials.

This was on on Thai tv this morning ,they said the other officials included immigration .

They also said some clients where paying up to 15,000 Baht /time .
