Well, Dowie is the first manager to leave a EPL team this season and unlike the 'big' clubs of Newcastle and Man City, it was not the fans putting pressure on the board to sack the manager. In fact, just about all the Charlton fan sites were happy to see Dowie's style and knew it would be only time before the team got its act together.

At the time of writing this we still don't know if he was pushed or jumped but for sure if he was pushed after just 12 games then SHAME on the board! :o

Someone offer Curbs a job quick please......we don't really want him back.

I agree it was a poor call by the Charlton Board..only 12 games ..Curbishley got 12 years!!! :D

Good managers do not become bad ones overnight...I can't see that by appointing Les Reid (right name?) just because he has been at the club a long time a good appointment..but we will see, starting at Reading on Saturday..which is gonna be a very toug game for both of us.

Good luck to us both on Saturday Harry One of us will be happy and one sad

I once saw Bobby Charlton on the terrace of the Oriental Hotel, standing alone, quietly watching the Chao Praya boats go by.

I had a chat with Jackie Charlton once, jeez, he seemed not to be the brightest bulb, but did a grand job for the Irish.

Cheers TP, however, we need more luck than you.

Well, its Les Reed, known to the Charlton faithful as Lou reed :D

The truth is that we never know what is going on behind closed doors at the football clubs we love, it seems that all was far from well and the blame was clearly put at Dowie's door. I now have to change my remarks about the board and say well done to the Chairman for acting cleanly and with speed.

Furthmore, thank goodness they have not bought in someone like Hoddle to save us.

What's this? A thread about little ol' Charlton on thaivisa?

Interesting what has been revealed in the press. I also thought Dowie would turn it around. I was one of those that wanted Dowie as new manager before he was appointed.

I didn't see Football Focus last night but it seems that Dowie had some somewhat unusual coaching ideas. Anyway time to look forward.

Eddie Charlton was a boring fart. The SLOWEST snooker player ever!!!

Has to be said that Charlton-under-Dog are far from being boring.

With a goal difference like they have ,,,,how can seeing so many goals be boring

I had been worried about posting recently with such an embarrassing avatar.

What is going on at our little family club?

IMHO this is the first thing the board has got right since Curbs' departure. Probably too late to avoid relegation but Pardew is the man to get us back on track........I hope.

Thanks for enabling me to offer my thoughts via your comments, without going off topic H.H.

To be able to spend time chatting with J.C. , M.Setters and T.Toms was a joy and an education.

We used to do fitness training at Hillsborough with most of the players of the day and it really was a pleasure, a priviledge and gave you a feeling of being just as important as the staff.

This was when it was Taboo with most clubs to let the fans use the same facilities and mix with the players.

We used to be able to use the training ground as well in the warmer months.

It,s hard to believe but we even had lads from across the city joining in, differences aside.

Happy days i,ll never forget.

marshbags :D:o

P.S.

Things must be looking up for you all at The Valley

Don,t know if you know of it but just in case the url for overseas supporters is;-
