ever notice how the soothing aroma of cilantro (fresh coriander) lingers on yer hands after chopping?...they should bottle that aroma for afflicted persons to inhale when stressed and during times of emotional distress...but then some idiot would make it illegal...

btw wanted to mention that I use the same ingredients, canned red kidneys, garbanzos and fresh long green beans (steamed) plus some artichoke hearts (makro) in a traditional bean salad with a dressing, keep in the fridge and snack on all day and ye don't need to eat anything else as the beans are filling...with the present ye just throw some curry spices into the mix and some water and toms to make a soup...

for the bean salad just google, there must be a million recipes and dressings...

and, the beans got a lot of fiber...good bowel movements guaranteed...made a ground pork and bok choy chow mein recently and although very tasty the meat made me constipated...

Last week I made it.

Italian bean salad. On top are sundried tomatoes in oil (bought).

Is that a pianist in the corner?

Had it not been for the staff member walking across your shot I would have said that wasn’t Thailand.

I am currently in Spain on holiday and, were it not for a couple of Thais in the photo,  you could also have been.

Intrigued by the location...PM by all means if you don’t wish to make it public...

I could go for a pot of pintos and ham-hocks with fresh chopped onions, pepper & vinegar. Big slab of jalapeño cornbread on the side...

one of the first things I learned to make was a lentil stew with onions, carrots, celery...and my instructor was my friend's mom, she was good at makin' big pots of stuff to feed the masses, she was one of the first socialist/zionist kibbutz people to go to palestine in the 30s...but she was jewish and I didn't discover the merit of ham hocks until much later...

man, that sure would go good with some corn bread...

got some ground beef and tatties, believe I'll make a meat loaf and mash sometime soon...the cornbread will hafta wait, impossible to find cornmeal anywhere in Thailand, even in BKK...

Interesting about cornmeal.... we have down here in SexCity. the Sexpat capital of Thailand with all the dregs that live here..... ad nauseum.... A Venezuelan place offering arepas. It will apparently open on the 10th of this month. They must be getting cornmeal from somewhere. I have only eaten arepas on Tenerife in the Canary Islands which have a number  of people who went to Venezuela in the Franco days and retired there when oil went to crap.

Sure you can get frozen cornmeal paste here but it is not the real thing.
What would I give for a bag of cornmeal...

They look good enough to eat!

Haven't had wraps for ages, used to roast peppers, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, garlic and chicken in olive oil and wrap, fantastic.

Builders treating us tonight to wasp grubs. They've been watching the nest for a couple of days. Just had a raw one, bit creamy, see what they're like dry-fried.

Have a wasp wrap! :vampire:

GF eats those grubs on rare occasion. Disgusting to me, but this vegan don't judge. She cooks awesome "jey" grub so no complaints from me!

Surprisingly good, bit of an aftertaste but with salt, nice.

Another batch cooked (slowly so they don't burst) with coriander, chili and lime.

B900/kg

I had a “Mexican Wrap” at “Texas Chicken”

Not too bad...
Personally I like Texas Chicken much more than KFC.
Though I rarely eat or have eaten at both.
Try to avoid KFC now completely.

I find KFC  here horrible, especially the hotwings. Here they're dusted in some awful powder coating.

Best junk food I had (bout 4 months ago) was the Burger King special, Aussie beef with fried onions.

My missus does the best chicken I've ever had, KMFC (khun Malee Fried Chicken), with twice-fried chips, ketchup and mayo. If I'm really lucky I get onion rings as well.

Next is to find or make a decent sesame seed bun and make the perfect chicken burger.

Got to be plastic (American sliced) cheese with it.
