Unaccompanied Baggage - Thailand to Europe - cheapest method via air

Featured Replies

I need to move c100Kg of personal belongings from Chiang Mai to Malta.

DHL have quoted me 365 Baht/Kg, which works out at 36,500 Baht total price (quote includes insurance/packing/delivery in 2-3 days etc). I can easily wait c2-3 weeks for delivery and would welcome help from forum members as to other companies (if any) who would be able to do it at a lower rate.

I have considered shipping the goods (2-3 months) but, assuming I get a reasonable quote, would be happy to send via unaccompanied baggage.

I also went to CM Airport today but could not find any companies/offices who deal with this type of baggage.

As-of-yet, I have not booked any flights/dates and am open to other options.

Thanks in anticipation:

Go to the Post Office and get a quote

Delivery time around 30 days

You can buy the boxes, pack it yourself and take it to the PO

Whatever you do, I would suggest, you should make sure you note the items are PERSONAL EFFECTED AND USED,

You may want to check with removal companies like Siam Move Management and Chiang Mai Removals to see what they can do for you also.

Thanks HullyGully - you may have solved my problem!

Went to the ThailandPost branch in KSK today and they quoted me 215 Baht/Kg - almost 50% less that DHLs quote. Unless I hear otherwise - within next 2 weeks or so - of a lower quote than that, will use them instead of DHL.

Comment about PERSONAL EFFECTS AND USED also appreciated.

Also keep the cost on the low side, hopefully you do not have to pay customs duties

If you did, its based on your figure, plus VAT and transport costs

Suggest you type of an invoice, with costs and the comments used personal effects and over 2 years old

Tape the details to the box

Hello there,

Ref: Parcel Monkey

I've recently moved here and had 45kg sent separately. The cost was just over £200.00. Their website says they can do most things from anywhere. I sent the bags on a Tuesday, they were here by Sunday. They provide you with various quotes from several carriers. Mine came door to door via Parcel Force.

Kind regards,

Imelda
