Suvarnabhumi To Samui

Featured Replies

Hi folks

I'm flying down to Samui next month on Bangkok Airways after flying into Thailand from Malaysia.

Done it stacks of times from Don Muang, very easy , no hassle.

I'm assuming should be fairly straightforward at Suvarnabhumi?

This may seem like a soppy post but as well as the fact that I'm flying in from Malaysia, my wife is flying in from UK and we'll meet at the airport before flying down to Samui 2 1/2 hours later. Don't want to encounter any of those 'hidden quirks' that sometines occur.

Thanks for any advice.

The Bangkok Airways departure gate area is really lousey, especially compared to their great departure area at Don Muang.

I suggest you and your wife meet in the Bangkok Airways passenger lounge which is not at the departure gate. You may have to look for it as it may be farther down the corridor than your departure gate.

somchai, just did it a couple of days ago. The departure gates are cold and have the same uncomfortable metal chairs. Opposite gate A3 is the Bangkok Lounge which is quite comfy, with free drinks, snacks and internet.

I found check in to be quite quick and easy and the ladies at the desk friendly and helpful.

Thanks for the advice SBK and Roger. :o

Domestic departure area generally is quite good but long walks to the gates from passport control. There is a decent restaurant there & as others have said, the BKK airways lounge is now seperate from the departure gate & you may have a bit of a walk from the lounge to the gate depending on what gate you are leaving from. One thing I was told by all my samui mates after having a 2 hr delay on our flight that nearly ALL flights from BKK to Samui are delayed these days :o

Thanks Boo. Fingers crossed no delays.

Also, you've been doing that same dance as long as I've been on this forum. Don't you ever get tired ?! :o
