question about tourist visa in 2016

Featured Replies

hello. everyone.

i would like to know what about new rules on tourist visas for french citizen .
so this winter i plan to come for 5-6 months in thailand from november to march.
usually i get by alone without worries , there are always a solution in thailand
but this year i bring my father so i have to plan a roadmap .
so few questions
without visa, on arrival at bkk we get 30days,
we can extend 30 days in office imigration for 2000baths? is it still possible ?
actually, we get 15 days or 30 days? with visas run on border (by road) , cambodia ,laos, or malaysia?
and can we extend this entry with 30 days extention a immigration office ?
or it's only avialble if we come by plane ?
how many visa run by road can we do ? (before it was 4)
and my last question ,
In vientiane at thai ambassy , is still possible to get a double entry visa ?
other fresh news on visa are welcome
bestregard

You will get 30 days arriving by land or air.

You can extend any 30 day visa exempt entry by 30 days for 1,900 baht.

You cannot do 'visa runs' at every land border.

You will probably be limited to 2/3 by land.

You cannot get double entry tourist visas anywhere anymore. You can only get a single entry tourist visa.

You can still get a 30 day visa exempt by air or land (G7 country rule) that can be extended for 30 day at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

You may be for asked for a ticket out of the country within 30 days to board your flight to here.

It would be best to appy for a single entry tourist visa before starting your trip.

Two entry tourist visas are no longer available. Only single entry and multiple entry ( available since November of last year) tourist visas are possible.

You can get a single entry tourist visa in Vientiane.

thank all.

it's sound more clear to me , so for resuming.

first solution

the first 30days at arrival is free + 30 days extention for a cost of 1900b

then we must leave the kindom

we can go to the border and get 30days at the rentry than we can extend for 30 days .

and we can do another visas run than we could extand once again .

this can be allow me to stay between 150 day and 180 days

this is quite borring for me but i don't know what my father want to do , go and see , so this solution is very flexible .

and we can also visit laos or cambodia during the visa run trip .

the 2nd solution could be

30 day free on arrival with an extantion of 30 days a office immigration , then we must leave the country

so we can apply for a simple entry in vientiane , where we get a 60 days visas that could be extend by 30 day

so this soltution is allow us to stay 150 days .

with a only one roadtrip , that could by also good if my father will be scared by the traffic road.

the 3rd solution is to get a visa before leave france,

this is not so easy because we live in corsica , i have to flight to paris and stay two days here ,

and as i told to some one in pm , two day , is if you are lucky to be between boudda day , french day off and thai day off

that is a big amont of money and time , than i prefer to spend in asia during the trip.

they also ask for hotel reservation , flight ticket (with return within the 90 days ), and proof of momey , the last part isn't the probleme ,

but really ,i never do what i plan in thailand , i just follow the wind ,

anyway , if i get a simple entry visa , so 60 days and 30 day extantion , i should do also a visas run , and an extention

for been there 150 day and an other visa run to up 180 days,

now you talk about the MEVT multi entry tourist visa ,

that could be interresting if you give me some extra information on the process to use it .

on the french thai ambassy web site they don't give too much information

and something wierd is the price only 30euro where i saw it is 200 usd in hanoi and 225 aud in australia

as exemple if i get the MEVT two month before enter in the kindom , the validity of the visa is 6 month

so i can just do 2 periode of 60days ?

and you say "You may be for asked for a ticket out of the country within 30 days to board your flight to here"

that is not new,

this is because the compagny who bring you in thailand is responsible in case of overstay they have to bring you back .

useally i print a fake airflight ticket , but i never need it , two year ago i dont do it and they wont let me go , so i told them in 19 month in thailand i have just one days of over stay, i will accross un border by land ." it was ok but they check my passport 5 minutes.

thank

Before I start on my own experience, it seems that the Thai Embassy in Paris operates differently from those in other countries.

I have been going to Thailand for 4-5 months (November/March) for 15 years. Last year (August) I buy my ticket for 120 days (4 months). October, as usual I apply for my 60 day visa. Refused!! Because I have a 4 months air ticket. Can only have a 3 month ticket!!! So I go to a tourist agency and get an option on a 3 month ticket, which I send to them. OK I get my visa. I finally changed my real ticket for 3 months, because I didn't want any hassle with Immigration on arrival.

For me, they are nuts in Paris.

Immigration does not ask to see tickets for the 30 day extension so no problem to change your flight.
