Saphan Sarasin was the first bridge built to link Phuket Island to the mainland of Phang Nga province.

Phuket: -- A 51-year-old disabled man died in a Phang Nga hospital yesterday (Aug 7) following a leap from Sarasin Bridge in Mai Khao. A 15-year-old girl who jumped with him is currently being treated in the hospital.

Capt Suthipong Rodsong, an investigator from Khok Kloi Police Station, was notified that a man and girl had jumped from Sarasin Bridge at the north point of Phuket at 7:10pm yesterday. It was reported that the man was disabled.

Police and Kusoldharm rescue workers arrived at the scene to find a fishing boat helping to bring the man, named as Roub Dongchan, 51, and the 15-year-old girl (name withheld) from the sea.
