webfact Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Thais furious as 'farang' woman parades in her undies at Phuket temple Image: Thairath PHUKET: -- Thai visitors to a temple were outraged to see a Western woman in a revealing see-through outfit at a popular central Phuket temple yesterday. Where were the officials to stop her?, they asked, as the woman wandered around oblivious to the distress she was causing Buddhists who were trying to concentrate on religious matters at Wat Chalong, reported Thairath. So some good Buddhists took pictures to send to the authorities to call for action. Reporters said that Wat Chalong is often the site for Chinese people to have pre-wedding photos taken where the couples kiss and hold on to each other - behavior forbidden in temple grounds. Usually there are officials on hand to tell them to stop. But in the case of the western woman no one tried to stop her. Source: Thairath -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2016-08-11
ezzra Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 " Furious and distress " and this is coming from the country probably with the biggest numbers of bars, lady of and night and day, awash with drugs and an internationally known as a men's haven, only stone throw away from this temple you have tones of bars and massage parlors catering for all whims and want of immorality, Thailand is a major tourists country with many millions of visitors coming every year, and with it you get all sorts of people, not all of them know the rules and the knowhow as to how to dress in a holy places....
Thechook Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Looks more like a sun dress over the top of her bikini but still not appropriate attire for church
jonclark Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 The Thais behind her don't look very furious??

kalbo123 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I haven been to several Thai Temple party's. The Thai "sexy girls" dancing and singing there were dressed way more inappropriate, just saying before the farang bashing begins.
arrowsdawdle Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Perhaps, the outrage is rooted in fear that Buddhists might see through the temple mafia.
alfalfa19 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Of course, nobody tried to stop her, as they were admiring her hindquarters. Ohhh, Wilbur!

Yeah I don't see many 'furious Thais' on social media, just a mixture of amusement and asking why the temple staff weren't there in time to save her from embarrassing herself. Self-hating farang will be more riled up about this than the Thais.
Caps Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Maybe if she had a new sim card in her phone the Thais would of known where she was and what she was doing, thus prevented it from happening
gchurch259 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 While inappropriate, very nice. Is she blond or is that a scarf, if blond may explain not knowing. It is the Temples duty to have some available to monitor comings and goings. Most I have been to have apparel available to borrow or lease while in the Temple.
Gracas Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Is she a Politician ? They are always tell you how they will provide transparency.
aripengu Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Real Buddhists are not distracted by underwear.
stevenl Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 95 procent she was part of a Russian tour group. She should have known better, but more importantly the tour guide and wat chalong officials should have prevented this.
cumgranosalum Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) it would be nice if they worried as much about how their country was run as they do about other people's underwear. Edited August 11, 2016 by cumgranosalum

True bars and nightclubs are in great numbers, but that doesn't mean that temples should be a showcase of stupid farangs who don't know how to behave OUTSIDE a bar.... and if not all of these farangs are aware of their behaviour, I think Thai authorities should point it out with a night in a cell or a hefty fine...
westsail Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I think it's shows a disgraceful disrespect for Thai people and Thai culture. Even though she is not Buddhist she knows that this is a holy place for Thai people. Does anyone think that she would try to enter a cathedral in her own country or in any western country dressed like that?
English 1 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Oh come on and get real do you really think that anyone would be TRULY furious about this!? NO is the answer.
phantomfiddler Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 If one goes around looking for distress it will usually be found. What a trivial matter, and really only a slight variation of the commonplace occurrence where thais go around looking for the slightest reason to beat up some farang. If a thai was in that dress not a word would have been said

shirtless Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 The headline is a joke , Thais sure get angry over religion its a shame they dont practice it themselves.
DavidB4 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I couldn't care less but I've always thought it best to not unnecessarily piss off anyone over their religion, it's a bad survival trait.

brancodug Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 They all complain and take pictures but why didn't one of them just go tell her to go cover up, most Temples supply gowns for people who turn up in shorts or skirts.

If she were to enter an Orthodox church in Russia like that she would get a scolding from the cleaners and a good bollocking from the priest on duty.
KOZMO Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 How many of the top monks stole millions of dollars from the poor, have wives and children, drink, and even ask for underage children???? Practice what you Preach !!!!!
