Gen. Prawit orders security increase after southern attacks

Suwit Rattiwan

BANGKOK, 12 August 2016 (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon has attended a meeting between national security units following bombings in many southern provinces. He instructed them to step up security measures and impose the highest punishment on those responsible for the attacks.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Defense Maj.Gen. Khongchip Tantrawanit said the meeting concluded that those who did not mean well for the country were behind the explosions. These people did not want peace in Thailand and aimed to destroy the country’s image. They wanted people to panic and wanted to undermine the public’s confidence in the government, the spokesman said.

Maj.Gen. Khongchip stated further that the deputy PM had instructed the National Council for Peace and Order to take care of the overall situation and instructed national security units to investigate a connection between the incidents. Gen. Prawit told them to remain vigilant in all areas, especially the affected areas in the South, and called on the public not to panic, said the spokesman.

Gen. Prawit denounced the incidents and urged instigators of violence to stop hurting people and the country.

It is a no brainer they do not mean well for the country.

Lets hope some news of progress in these cases start filtering out soon.

Agree, the Junta are self serving.  This draconian regime promised to unite the country and return happiness to the people but instead it's master has been urinating on his Subjects and telling them what to eat, wear, controlling thier thoughts and opinions and who their friends can be.  Some people just don't like being ruled in such a barbaric manner.

Yes we know better than anybody how to run the country.

You do as we say. Do not speak bad about anything we do.

Anybody who disagrees with us will be taken in for attitude adjustment:cheesy: What a farce.

Now bombs are going off, somebody is trying to show that you are not in control.

A certain exiled man is showing you he still has supporters here.

Stop all your nonsense about controlling everything people do.

At the end of the day you are a bunch of army officers, who are totally out of your depth, out of touch with reality.

While I am in full favour of harsh punishment for the attackers,  isn't sentencing a function of the judiciary?  In a democracy there is a separation between the executive and rhe judiciary. Oh, wait, never mind...

Yesterday i rode bts, arl twice, and mrt and went to central chidlom.  Security was as lax as everr.

I don't know whether to be surprised or not as it's usual to get some OTT stable door closed reaction.

Maybe yesterday being a holiday had something to do with a slow response  !
