Yep. Wife needs to be with you once a year for about an hour or less.

No much of a hardship.

My retirement  extension of stay is due on March14

I have already a letter from my Embassy ( honorary consulate in Chiang Mai) the  amount of my pension is less than 30 000 baht a month, the difference, adding up to 800k  i will have in my K bank account.

For how long do I have the savings account money in the bank  prior to the extension of stay?

I never had a married extension of stay, always  had  800 k in the bank  for 3 month, since the  3 months date  expired in December 2015 extensions date is14 March.

Can I apply for a  non- O visa in Mae Sai or do I have to fly out of Thailand and apply at an Embassy e.g Singapore

Is there another way to extend my stay beyond March 14, I have a re-entry permit until  March 14.

Under the "combo" method of proving finances for retirement extensions, no seasoning is officially required of the bank balance part. However, unofficially, a number of immigration offices are insisting on 3-month seasoning as per the full 800k bank balance method. Don't know whether Chiang Mai Immigration (who I assume are your local office) are one of these, though.

But even though your bank balance may have been depleted below the 800k required for a retirement extension, is it not still above the 400k required for a marriage extension?

If you are looking for a fresh non-O visa instead, the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet, PDR Laos may probably be your best bet since they will give you a multi-entry non-O based on marriage without any financial proof on your part. Plenty of threads on here from those who have been through the process, including the long "worry-free" one. However, Singapore should be avoided at all costs since your chances of getting a non-O there are next to zero. And you will definitely need to travel out of Thailand for a fresh non-O in any event.

EDIT: link now attached to the "worry-free" thread:-

Not sure what you mean about the 3 months being expired in December 2015.

If you have 30k baht of income that is a annual income of 360k baht. If you subtract that from 800k baht you only need 440k baht in the bank for 3 months if your office requires it to be in the bank that long.

I guess my  quoting was not  explicit, I was meaning  the  period of money in the bank (savings-account)  prior  to the application for an extension of stay, is 90 days

that means  the  extension is expiring in March 14  2017 and 3  months  earlier is Dec. 14 I have to deposit the 300K, or 400k Baht, if I use the combined method, the income letter from my embassy and the  deposited  money in my bank account, for how long do I  have the approx. differential of 440k in my account, 2 or 3 months? I always  apply for an extension at the Mae Sai immigration.

Does my wife  has to accompany me to do the  retirement extension?

If she is not able  or wanting to go with me can I alone  apply?

I am  requiring an retirement visa extension not a married  extension, what if somebody is not married?

Or the wife is not able to appear when applying, or she does not want  that her husband  extends his retirement visa by any reason?

very true, not married no (married visa) but still can get a retirement (extension) based on a original Non 'O' visa from his own country or from  any  embassy pertaining to his nationality.

To get a  retirement visa  one does not have to be married , exeption is his  retirement visa (extension ) was  based on a conversion from a married  Visa ( extension) then the scenario changes. seems a bit difficult to elaborate. If you have a  married visa  and get separated or divorced than the  issued  visa  and extension become invalid, I don't know after what elapsed time frame, any help here?

my 90 day seasoning ( money kept in  a savings account in a Thai bank) has lapsed, that is the 90 days  counting from December  2016 to March  2017,

I need  now  more time  say, after  March 2017 to accumulate  the seasoned  money to  fulfill the requirement of 800k baht total  inclusive the  income letter from my embassy  which is valid for  6  months, the combo method is only allowed for a retirement  visa( extension ) not for a married  extension pls  correct me if  I assume wrongly.

An extension of stay ends when the reason for its issue ends.   So for divorce/separation it ends on that date (although separation would likely not be an issue unless reported by someone).  For death of Thai they make exception and allow remain for current stay from recent announcements.

The marriage extension is one or the other - no combination of income/savings.  And when changing from marriage to retirement extension they may want wife present (they required it in my case) to make sure she knows (explained as due Thai marriage laws - expect they want wife to know husband may be starting an exit plan).

The requirement is 3 months at some offices when using the combination method. The written rules do not mention a 3 month requirement.

You need to the check with the Mae Sai immigration to find out if they require it to be in the bank for 3 months.

You wife does not have to be with you when you apply for and extension based upon retirement.
