Vietnam Lifts Controversial Nudity Ban Raunchy self-images no longer banned

The authorities in Vietnam have revoked a new law that was passed only last month banning nudity.

The controversial rule was imposed in reaction to models and beauty contestants taking and publishing naked photographs of themselves and posting them online.

Critics strongly opposed the ban.

Vu Khanh, chairman of the Vietnam Association of Photographers, criticized it, saying that the ban will cause many difficulties to artists.

‘Nudity is not encouraged in Vietnam, but it has never been banned,’ he said.

The controversial rule, which went as far as prohibiting ‘offensive clothes that expose sensitive parts of the body,’ noted that ‘violators face working bans and have their beauty titles stripped.’

In the interest of artistic integrity the gallery below is an example of the issue.
