Motorcycle trip anyone?

Featured Replies

I will be back in CR on 4 November for my annual return visit and plan on doing a 2- 3 week (maybe longer?) motorcycle trip from CR around the border to Nan, Loei, and on to Nong Khai. Anybody else up for it?

My wife (farang) and I lived in CR from 2005 to 2009 (Thailand from 2004-2009) and biked extensively in Thailand, on both a 125cc Dream and a 250 cc Honda Degree. So lots of Thailand experience, and 52 years riding motorcycles.
My wife isn't coming along on this trip, so I will be doing it solo for a change. I am 67 years old now, so racing is out of my blood. Just want take it slow and explore side roads.

Solo riding is good, but it is nice to have company. Let me know if you are interested.  Dan.

I am here in Chiang Rai and planning on leaving on motorcycle trip on 9 or 10 November. I am staying at Baan Bua Guest House on Th. Jed Yod. New mobile phone # 092-7350553,   Dan.

You are a brave soul, considering going off on a long trip with someone you don’t know.  I spent a few years riding a 650cc around the North but found it was easier and safer to do it on my own.  Too much compromise involved in riding with others and that can lead to problems and poor judgement.

That said the weather is great right now so I am sure you will have an amazing trip.  We were up on Doi Tung the other day and the weather was perfect as we looked over into Burma.

Riding alone is ok but much better if you can find a companion especially on a long trip for safety reasons. Also gives you a chance to work on people skills and maybe make a new best friend. Cheers and have a great trip.
