Free boat travel service on Phadung Krungkasem canal to boost tourism begins today

BANGKOK: -- The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) today began the free 5-km long boat service from Hua Lampong railway station to Thewet pier to boost tourism and to serve as another alternative to travel to avoid traffic jams on roads.

 

Four boats are put into the service on two time spans during weekdays from 06.00 am-09.00 am, and from 4.00 pm-8.00 pm or during morning and evening rush hours.

 

At weekends, the service will be from 08.00 am-08.00pm.

 

According to Mr Suthon Arnakul, deputy director of the BMA’s traffic and transport department, on weekdays, boat will leave Hua Lampong and Thewet piers 20 minutes apart, while at weekends, 30 minutes apart to boost tourism on the canal and it’s vicinities.
