You learn how to deal with problems the Thai way. Family means everything here. Your position in the family defines who you are. Without one you are nobody... farang tao-nahn eng. Exactly right, I left the teak house I built , for many years and full of my stuff. Nothing touched. Extended family watched over it for me, even after the divorce. I do have a daughter, which 'belongs' to the village, although she has not been there for 10 years. It doesn't matter. It would be hard to live in Thailand without being 'connected' .....and earned the right of not being regarded as an 'adult child'.

Stargeezr
Do any of you remember what the nice Chinese tour groups did to the White Temple in the north of Thailand. Crapped in the urinals and plugged up the toilets in general. Yes that is what some of these NEW tourists that Thailand is enjoying, act like. The spitting and general trash throwing and other activities are like that even in some parts of China, when the local police are looking elsewhere. I had a run in with some crafty pick pockets as well in 2 cities in China, and I have not plans to ever go back to that country. I seen and experienced enough in my 3 visits, to Beijing, Shanghai and a few other cities. Geezer
puukao
So far no problems from Chinese. But I don't act weak and act scared. It's not high season yet. i wonder when people want to learn Chinese instead of English. For business I think soon. Back home none of these problems. But it costs you 13000000 baht.
