I can see this thread going on indefinitely.

Soon reports from those who attended will start coming in.

There might even be someone who claimed to have seen Alan Hall flogging investment opportunities to the members again.

Thats fine as long as we keep it on topic about CEC and not other inferior breakfasts.

Happy to report that's the best breakfast I have experienced in CM. Yes it does cost more but the quality far outstrips the additional money over others I have tried, and believe me I have tried most with the exception of Sausage King ;-)

The variety is excellent, I like the fact that they have an egg station and also a few Asian choices. All in all excellent, and we will be returning.

My only mistake was not joining and going for the non-members price as I could have saved myself 100 baht for me and my wife lol, but we wanted to sample it first.

A big thumbs-up from me, great breakfast, friendly and excellent surroundings and parking.

One suggestion from me is that instead of putting our real names on the badges we were given we should also put our TV members name so we can recognise people. Granted some people might want to avoid certain folk but then they are welcome to sit at another table.

Photos suggest otherwise :cheesy:

Paul, if you are reading this thread we will have to all go for breakfast here if it coincides with our visit. Pim really liked it and I think Opal will too.

Sorry Stament, but being a ThaiVisa "super member" or even the ThaiVisa "Poster of the Year" doesn't impress the crowd at the CEC breakfast.  They're too busy getting out and enjoying life to spend much time on ThaiVisa getting to know people by their ThaiVisa handle.  Much better to use your real name on your name tag to meet people experiencing real life.

Nice to learn you found the breakfast to be so good.

Is this a requirement? Wearing name tags, that is?

There seems to be some advertising material at each table. Are they going to be sponsoring and thus making the breakfast nearly free?

I will read fliers for a free meal.

Who said anything about wanting to impress the crowd Nancy????

Didnt realise I was TVPOTY, I thought us mere mortals werent worthy of such a title.

Merely a suggestion, shame CEC are blinkered as I think people know more about people through threads on here than a 1 min intro at the new joiners table.

Shame, feebadback isnt considered, I can now half understand why so many negative comments now against CEC. Surely better to be open minded to suggestions?

I for one would like,to meet a lot of the TV members who have knowingly or not knowingly helped me over the years, shake their hand but them a coffee or beer.

Sorry for getting the thread mixed up but what do you expect from an inexperienced CEC non-member

stament,   part of the problem with posting on the internet is that you lose the personal touch of facial expression, voice tone, etc.

Was was speaking about myself.  I was ThaiVisa POTY in 2015 and being self-deprecating when I was talking about how the CEC members don't really care about ThaiVisa!

I wonder how many people would be willing to disclose their ThaiVisa handle, however.  Back when ThaiVisa did a party or two here in Chiang Mai I recall that many attendees were reluctant to disclose their handle.  I seem to recall one party where we were suppose to put our TV name on our nametags and some people left rather than stay and eat the free food.

The last week of our stay would coincide with the first Friday in March as the only possibility (flying home from Chiang Mai Sunday 5th).

But in saying that, I have left that week purposely free (no pre-paid accommodation) to either visit family in and around Thailand or maybe sneak off with Opal elsewhere for a week.

Better a game of charades and try and guess other peoples ThaiVisa handle.

Well, there are about 100 people in Chiang Mai who have better things to do with their time than post on ThaiVisa.  The people at the breakfast this morning, I mean.   Me?  I've got my doubts about myself.......

Pictures of all the attendees and not a decent shot of the breakfast itself, might join Winnie and ES at McDonalds for an egg mcmuffin.

Is this buffet breakfast a normal daily routine, or just once a month for the Ex-pat Club breakfast?

For some one who has Made and posted over 3500 posts

To ask the question about the times it is on

It has been posted that many times on Thaivisa i have forgotten

Here it is AGAIN

The 1St and 3Rd Friday of each month

Sometimes it is cancelled due to various reasons

But is always advised in advance

That is if you subscribe to the Expats club mailing list

Plus i thought this post had run its time

Have to laugh at all the posters after the time has been and gone

Yes... My fault entirely. I usually take quite accurate and complete notes on everything that is said in Thai Visa, but somehow the notes for this must have been miss-filed...   :whistling:

Thank you.  But perhaps I should have been more clear. Is this buffet ONLY for the Expats Club?

Actually... I don't.  I'm not a member of the Expats Club, which should have been obvious otherwise I'd know these dates.

The answer to that has also been posted here many times in the past (there is a search function); regardless and saving your memory and typing fingers, the buffet is open to anyone (however, current pricing is 300B for non-members and 250B for CEC members).

ROTFL!  It's rather like listening to the Weather Man... He's always wrong but he never seems to be embarrassed by that fact, nor does it slow him down from being wrong again and again!
