They could be appointed with a different system, or indirectly elected with a 2 third majority, etc...

I am not too familiar with the U.S. system but it doesn't seem to be as obviously biased as in Thailand.

Halloween doesn't seem to be too familiar with any  democratic system. :whistling:

What I say is that in the previous system, we have a network of people appointing each other, which doesn't guarantee the independence of these so-called organisations (it was not difficult to guess that they are not neutral when looking at their behaviour).

What I also say is that it's getting worse in the new context of the Junta,  as they appoint nearly everybody, included the next appointed senate. Add to it a PM that will probably be chosen thanks to the appointed senate, we will have all powers and counter powers on the same side of the political arena.

You are correct. Completely, ...

As other Thai political observers have called it, this system is about "Elite rule with elections". Hence the need to have a circular system of appointments to the so-called "independent" organizations.

In this case, "independent" means "our elitist controlled institutions" which have the real power no matter what kind of government the "little people" elect.

Government is a tool through which society - and especially the resources of that society - are managed. The only real question is who controls that government and for whom the government is working.

What is actually funny is that Halloween did not challenge the fact that these so-called independent organisations are not independent and neutral! :)

Of course not...

He has voiced nothing but support for authoritarian, non-democratic structures and governments. He falsely claims others turn a blind eye to corruption, and then hugs a general...

Go figure...

Why would I bother? It isn't like any argument would convince you, and you at least present some logic to support your theories.

And if you weren't so rabidly anti-military, you might see that the current government is doing a lot of good. I have no problems admitting that generals are probably corrupt, yet you seem willing to overlook the crimes of a man who has spent his life robbing this country because he can buy his way into power.
