PHUKET:-- Police have so far been unable to trace the parents of two babies, the first left at a temple at Rawai on Aug 30, the second dumped in a bin in Patong last Saturday (Sept 17), but they will continue their search The Phuket News has been told today (Sept 22).

However, The Phuket News can confirm that both babies are healthy and currently in the care of local hospitals.

A baby boy placed in rice cooker box was discovered by monks at a small temple near Promthep Cape at about 8am on Aug 30 when they returned from collecting alms. The baby was said to be just five-days-old.

Capt Somkiet Sarasit, an inspector from Chalong Police Station, told The Phuket News today, “We have not been able to find the parents of the baby boy yet, but we will continue to look for them.”

While an official from the One Stop Crisis Centre at Vachira Hospital added, “The baby boy’s health is good and we are still taking care of him. The baby will be put into the care of the Children and Family Shelter soon.”

On the positive side they will more than likely end up with far better parents than they had in the first place.
