Duty free booze when transit UK

Featured Replies

I will be flying BKK to LHR, change Terminals then connecting flight onward to Glasgow.

If I buy duty free booze in BKK, will they take it off me at security when connecting at Heathrow?

Wouldn't be any reason why they would. You dont mention if within allowance but no reason why it wouldnt be acceptable for connecting flight

The reason might well be the very same reason for international flights : you need to pass through security and the standard rules apply which means no liquids, this includes duty free bottles which are not purchased at the same airport.

As it's a domestic flight this is an interesting question and I understand why it's being asked, I'd appreciate clarification on this point.

Yes you can take it through security so long as it's in the sealed duty free bag, with the receipt clearly visible inside the bag:

If you have hold luggage, it's unlikely to get checked through to Glasgow if you're on a different ticket for that flight. So you could just shove it in your suitcase at Heathrow.
