webfact Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 How low can you go? Police seek person who stole elephant tusk after accident Image: Krobkruakao CHIANG MAI: -- Police are looking for a thief who stole a tusk after a collision that killed a wild elephant on the Lampang to Chiang Mai road on Saturday night. The eight year old elephant - part of a project to return animals to the wild - ended up crushed under the front of the Route 99 Bangkok to Chiang Mai service , reported Krobkruakao. The driver was seriously hurt in the smash but is out of danger. Narit Jittrong has been charged with negligent driving. Some 25 passengers were uninjured. Following the accident someone stole the dead elephant's 70cm long left tusk. Reporters found that there are at least ten signs in the area warning motorists of elephants. The elephant was described as "playful and not fierce" and had probably ventured from the forest to look for food. The accident happened one kilometer from the Hang Chat highway checkpoint. Authorities are looking into the possibility of erecting an electrified fence in the area to prevent further accidents. Source: Krobkruakao -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2016-10-03

Honthy Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Thai bus and van drivers have practically 2 gears. The first lets you run 0 km/hour and the next top speed... in my 6 years here, i could never ever seen any other speed between...... This must be a national habit ....
Colabamumbai Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Surprised he did not take the elephant shit for the coffee beans!!!
slapout Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I can remember many things that have transpired in Thailand that I considered as much lower than someone or thing picking up a part of a cut off tusk on a dead elephant. Maybe it went into stewpot (roadkill) maybe a soi dog got it, it may be laying in the tall grass hidden from view. It is not anything I would get upset about but different strokes for different folks.
mcfish Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Who cares what people do with a dead animal Sent from my SC-01D using Tapatalk
fish monger Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 How low can you go....? 5555 I'm sure you could ask any cop on the street that question and I bet they can give you some pretty wild answers. Since they are pretty good at it themselves........

SOTIRIOS Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 ...another example of what reverential Buddhists are capable of....
alfalfa19 Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 This is not nearly as low as some industries which are standard, and condoned/enforced by BIB, such as the decades long jet ski scam.
naboo Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Police are just upset that someone else got there first.
Ulic Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 The police thought they had first dibs but were sniped.

All Thai buses are way under powered ,it takes them quite a while to get up a good speed. When they do they will do anything to avoid slowing down.
