"Mug throwing teacher gets away with slap on the wrists for his abuse"

How far did the mug throw the teacher?

I spent 20 years as a teacher in various Thailand schools. Most of them were crazy places. Teachers whacking kids with sticks was the norm, but it was also the norm when I was a lad at school back in the 1960s, so I guess in this regard Thailand is still where we were 50 years ago. However, we foreign teachers were told never to hit a student (not that I ever wanted to) as it then becomes a racial thing...the foreigner must never hit a Thai. But parents often told me if I wanted to hit their kid if he or she was naughty then I could do so.

I used to watch the Mathayom kids riding out of the school grounds on motorcycles...3 or 4 on one mc, no helmets. I remember discussing this with a Thai teacher on playground duty asking why the Thai teachers don't stop this, he replied they are only children and they don't want to be too harsh with them. All the computers in the school computer rooms had porn on the HDs and were full of games the students had downloaded during class time. At exam time we were told never to fail a student..everyone passes...really crazy places.
