Not really.  A lot of these maids would be model material in my country.  Men here are spoiled.

I've seen some young maids, but I wouldn't say they're all attractive.  Perhaps the OP is saying if they're young and not fat, they must be hot. 

One of our neighbors has Had a couple of beautiful youngish maids....

Only trouble is they didn't stay long....Less than a year....

 

Betting someone saw them & gave them an instant raise.....

Well you have to be single to get maid like a model, my wife employs the maids not me, l just pay for em.

Back in the West, 'maids' are extremely unusual - unless of course you're extremely rich.  Those on more moderate salaries employ cleaners.

 

In Thailand, the problem is frequently 'how do I find a part-time cleaner?'.  Or, if having a large enough house to warrant a maid or maids - 'how do I find a trustworthy maid?'.

 

Weirdly , those who can afford either couldn't give a damn about their looks or weight - only how well they do the job and whether they can be trusted.

as a side note, I think that it was a mistake of Western countries to make modest trades so expensive. it has hurt the economy a lot and also significantly hurt quality of life.

Simple answer to this: like many situations in Thailand, it's an opportunity for an enterprising young woman to make a little, shall we say, "extra cash" (actually, way more cash than she would make just being a maid)...hence the fact that it attracts many attractive young women.

 

Once I saw, on a website for THAIs, written 100% in THAI (lest the holier-than-thou brigade start their bitchy moaning about "you dirty farangs assume all women in Thailand are on the game, blahblah"), an ad by a young cute woman (yes, it included her photo) for her maid services.  It said, and I translate here: "Maid service available.  Come at 10 am, leave at 6 pm, 500 baht.  Come at 6 pm, leave at 10 am, 2,000 baht."  You can fill in the blanks yourself.

Men who've become used to consorting with fat, ugly women will find anything under 50kg attractive even if they're plain Janes.

Women who are distinctly average will look like Penthouse models to these guys.

Most local Thais do not think that most maids (mae baan) are attractive. They are generally short, dark, with very rural (baan nok) features.

 

Except in northern Thailand though - many maids in northern Thailand are young, good-looking, light-skinned Shan girls from Myanmar.

Why are farang maid employers so fat and ugly....

Actually, OP, I agree there's a lot of attractive women here employed in low-skill positions. Just like anywhere in the world. Salons. Cell phone shops. Or pretty much anywhere in retail. The problem is once you start talking to em you realize- just like their counterparts back home- the intellect is pretty low. And five minutes after you blow your nuts you'll want em gone. So you might as well just pay for it. At least then they'll leave when you want em to. Come to think of it, many of those types here moonlight as hookers, so you might get lucky and find your hotel staff working at the bar down the street.

If you are talking about hotel maids - - it is a tough job, lots of physical activity keeps them in shape?? I don't know.
