Malaria Test Kits in Thailand? - 2016 edition

Featured Replies

There was an old locked thread asking about this from 2011 - but I am chasing some Malaria Test Kits for a client going to spend time in Myanmar and want to see if anyone has current info

Are these available anywhere in Thailand? Or does anyone have experience ordering in from overseas - and can you provide me links/details?

Any advice appreciated, thank you

Not available in Thailand AFAIK,. no real need or use for them here.

They are, however, widely available in Myanmar. Clinics will have them, community health workers in malarious areas will have them, and good chance they can be found in pharmacies.

Contrary to what many people think, malaria is not endemic in the whole of Myanmar or even in most of it. The risk is in forested areas, especially near the Thai border, and even there would have to be in the forest at night.

The average business trip or tourist itinerary will not entail much risk.

Thanks Sheryl

They will be visiting an area which as malaria.  Not in the forests, but in the islands off the coast.
I'll try Yangon, many thanks for your advice
