low blood pressure ,anyone

Featured Replies

I have been checking my blood pressure more lately and find that the pressure varies between 110/65 and 90/58 or so ,my pulse is 62/68 i take blood pressure meds ,have for 30 years ,anyone else get this , there are no symptoms feel ok .

You may need to reduce dosage of BP medication but that needs to be checked with your doctor - I have had about the same readings lately and doctor yesterday advised to reduce my medication by 1/3 as he feels those readings, even without symptoms are too low.  In hospital my BP was a nasty 150/90 as have extreme stress/white coat reactions.

So I would advise you get the readings together and present to your doctor for his opinion.  Could be totally different than me so do not take my doctors advise to me as valid for anyone else.

Do make sure you meter is accurate (arm band type usually better) and take with you for doctor consultation so can verify.

Noi is on her way round to fix the problem.

I've been taking Atenolol for more than 10 years (doctor added amlodipine a few years back), but BP remains constant, despite quitting booze and smokes. I'm a bit o/weight, but that is coming down with diet and exercise. Reason I'm stating this is because you've got me intrigued. I hope you get some sensible responses . From what I have read in the past, you should have no worries if it stabilizes at that level.

(Sadly, the meds have made me viagra proof, and Noi redundant.)

Yes i take both of those , i have lost about a stone in the last year or so ,but still a bit overweight

I was also on those medications for many years but recently have changed to just Carvedilol and it seems to be working well.

Your weight loss in itself will have helped lower your BP such that you may no longer need the same dose and combination of meds. Discuss with your doctor a possible change.

There  is nothing at all wrong with these readings but it is always best to take the least doses if the fewest meds necessary.

I have the same. My bloodpressure is lower then it normally was, probably because of losing weight because the 'cold' makes me loose a lot of liquid.

Feel a lot better now.
