BANGKOK: -- A bunch of female Vietnamese pickpockets came into Thailand to take advantage of the massive crowds in the Sanam Luang area of the Grand Palace.

But when they saw the large police presence they turned their attention to Thammasat University nearby, reports Manager Online.

Practice for a degree ceremony was taking place and there were hundreds of students at the university.

The three Vietnamese had flowers with them and mingled with the happy students but police noticed their attention was on the bags of the students.

The lead woman pickpocket, Tran Thi Kim Lon, 47, lifted mobile phones then handed them to Tran Thi Too, 47, who finally passed them onto Tran Thi Bei Wing, 24.

Police recovered an iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and a Samsung and Asus device as well as a black bag. The three pickpockets were taken to the police tent at Sanam Luang near the palace where head of the met police Sanit Mahathavorn put in an appearance.

The Vietnamese women said they entered Thailand at Poi-pet after they heard of the potential for rich pickings from the crowds at Sanam Luang for the funeral of His Majesty.

But when they saw how many cops there were there they turned their attention to Thammasat University.

But police were also keeping a watchful eye out at the university too.

Things probably very quiet for the police there.

Must make life easier with all the native pickpockets staying away.

Bit of a "Tran" central.

Stealing is the number 1 profession of vietnamese. These pests go everywhere just to steal.

Time to polish and roll out these signs again....

Would be a good idea if these signs were written in Thai, no?
