BANGKOK: -- The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority or BMTA will add 300 more buses on the road on December 4-5, to provide conveniences to the general public.

Mr.Viroj Neelayothin, Head of Public Affairs to Bangkok Mass Transit Authority said that the BMTA will provide an addition of 24 bus lane and 18 shared lanes at the Sanam Luang area. He added that there will be 3,415 buses in the morning shift 2,245 buses in the evening shift, and 243 bus services all night long.

On December 5th, there will be 3,095 buses running in the morning and 1,873 buses running in the afternoon, including 262 buses operating throughout the night.

Good, more traffic, more smoke, more polution and more hassle. An excellent ideea. What about replacing the charriots they already have?

For those of us who ride bikes in BKK, more bus lanes = more ridiculous fines. Ride outside of bus lane and get fined for not keeping left. Ride in the bus lane and get fined for that. Point out the police are wrong and get fined for that. (BKK def. "fined" = robbed)

Still on a more optimistic note, maybe this will reduce the 'orrible green buses that have coated the insides of my lungs black.

Next on the agenda, get those train lines built.
