GinBoy2 Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 It was a sad loss to US journalism that it was announced today that Gwen Ifill had died. Gwen was a pioneer African American journalist, long time host of Washington Week, and co-host of PBS Newshour She exemplified what true journalism should be, impartial and above politics. She moderated Presidential and Vice Presidential debates, in a fashion which should embarrass this years moderators. Sadly I fear she represents a generation of journalists that did respect the truth and report objectively, unfortunately today's generation seem to value what Colbert would describe as 'Truthiness' rather than the object truth that Gwen valued. Sad loss to the US, and to journalism in general
JLCrab Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 This is a remembrance of Gwen Ifill from David Brooks, a conservative columnist for The New York Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/15/opinion/the-life-and-example-of-gwen-ifill.html
